Playing through this shit on switch while waiting for Vergil to hit 5 on PC. How does leveling up the style gauge work? Is it just killing enemies while having it equipped or is there more to it?

Oh look a game with actual character development and proper power gain throughout his journey from start to finish.

stop trying to represent us DMC3chads, we also love 5 nigger

Isn't vergil already on pc? You just don't get the other SE perks. Also just saying, they should port the special edition from the switch to pc, or make an update for HD collection. Even tought that DMC3 with style and weapon switching is kinda broken

Every enemy gives a certain amount of EXP when killed, with bosses giving a bunch, unless the mission ends immediately after killing them.
Fastest way to level up is probably doing mission 18 over and over, since it's a boss rush.

Isn’t the switch version pretty bad? What’s the best option for style switching

Credo > Vergil 2 > Cavaliere > Vergil 5 > all other fights

SE is skipping PC and Vergil comes as DLC to vanilla DMC5 on December 15th. I wonder if anyone's making a update to the free style mod to give it all the additions of DMC3Switch.

Alright, I'm been a Royal Guard fag against Vergil and want to make sure it's level 3 before mission 20. I've also never used gunslinger but I imagine some secret missions need it.

No it run great so far, its freestyle addition includes full weapon swapping and has local BP co-op. The latter being a thing I might do post coof is why I grabbed it on switch as a buddy also grabbed it, that would require one of us to blow through the game as Vergil first though.

>Vergil 5 IE the story wrapping up non fight.
I do hope you mean 4.

>I imagine some secret missions need it.
Nope, the game only requires you to level up trickster to get all blue orbs.

Well, I like the actual Nero vs Vergil fight, not the first playthrough victory lap.

So do you mean harder difficulties or 5's BP Vergil?

Harder difficulties

HOWEVER, gunslinger is actually fucking awesome in 3 but it will destroy your hands if you try to learn it.

Yes, both of those games have that.

>no dumb ass story with muh splitting
>doesn't ruin vergil and the story with his brother
>no nero
>no v
>lady actually does something
>action scenes are better
>isn't casualized
>royal guard is best
>vergils nasally voice
>has agni and rudra
>wild stomp
>best version of playable vergil
>extra costumes and coatless 1dante is still the best one
>tetsuya and shootie are the best musical combo
3 is still the best yes.

Vergil 2 is highly overrated just because people don't want to say Vergil 3, like everybody else. It's one of the best fights in the series and it has better music than Vergil 3, but in terms of gameplay Vergil 3 is a better fight and definitely still holds it's own with the music.

Caveliere is also a very overrated fight. It's fun, but he's basically a punching bag. There are few better boss fights in 5, not including Vergil. Such as the most underrated fight in the series, final Urizen, and King Cerb.

Dan's performance in DMC5 is actually surprisingly better than his DMC3 performance. Also, DMC3 Vergil is definitely not his best playable version, 5 is. The only two things 3 Vergil has over the others is being able to trick without an embedded sword and Yamato aerial rave. Yamato/Beo and Force Edge all only have one combo each and the enders for Yamato and Force Edge are something you almost never want to use. Beo has no charge mechanics. Judgement Cut and Drive are too slow to be useful in 95% of situations. His sword formations are also clunky and largely pointless when you get better results from just mashing out summoned swords.

I don't think you've played enough of the game to actually know a lot of that, though. I'm sure you only played it a couple of times a few years ago on Hard difficulty.

You receive style points by having styles equipped. You don't need to use the style button.

I’m new to the DMC series so I assume I may get a possible answer here, but why doesn’t anyone talk about this game? I got it on sale from steam because a classmate of mine told me to play this one first before the others.

Was 3's Vergil just a straight conversion of his boss moveset with some stat nerfs?

Black sheep.
Also easier and less complex than the other games.

>Lady actually does something
Yeah, be the worst boss.

The story is crap and the gameplay is a straight downgrade from the main series. At best you plow through it once when you've got nothing better to do to say you beat it then you never think about it again outside of mocking it.

Lady and Trish are gajinkas of Evony and Ivory

Because it makes weebs seethe uncontrollably. It’s a good game, it just doesn’t go full anime retard like the other games so the existing fanbase hates it.

Imagine Bayonetta but Son of Sparda is easy and He'll and Heaven is Devil Hunter
Also world's worst lock-on.

Mostly, but he couldn't do a couple of things like his proto-JCE. I think they added a couple of things, like Blistering Swords and Lunar Phase. I don't recall Vergil ever doing them as a boss, unless it was on DMD only. Because I only beat DMD once or twice. To maintain my sanity. 3 DMD is straight retarded.

Yes it just has sniper rifle abortions.

I got bored after the first vergil fight

am i retarded?

DMD Vergil has Blistering Swords, and boy that's the hardest one to dodge.

Not really. Vergil 1 is really easy on every difficulty, let alone the easy as shit difficulties you have to play on your first playthrough.

none of them know my true power...

I've never seen DMD Vergil do Lunar Phase. Is argue it's one of his best moves, since you can defeat some bosses literally just spamming it.

Do you feel in control little man?

Kind of strange, when you think about it. They must have just taken it from the cutscene where he kills Beo, because it looked really cool. I'm glad they did, it's one of Vergil's most iconic moves. Probably only behind Judgement Cut.

It's biggest problems was its name, and the way they tried to advertise it.
Had it been called something else, with different character names, it wouldn't have been lambasted anywhere near as badly.

I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with light
