Why do the fuck do people compare the new TWEWY to Persona 5 when a lot of its features and mechanics were already present in the original and other Japanese 3D games set in Japan?

I will never not be mad that TWEWY left the DS. The mobile and switch ports are an abomination and soulless. TWEWY was a masterpiece on the DS and should've been left as a successful once off.

Okay sure, but that doesn't answer my question.

People are retarded, that's all there is to it.

Persona 5 has become the meterstick "Stylish JRPG" to compare everything to, on account of it being super popular, and being babby's first JRPG

Back in the stone age of 2008 (Or was it 07?) these kind of games were rare. Now it's really not special at all to be a 3D game about trends set in Shibuya and have semi transparent NPC's you can't really fully interact with. They ALL do it.

World wide obesity is at an all time high.
Ergo, more people have been exposed to Persona than ever before.

Hell if I know. I'm still excited for NTWEWY either way.

Personafags don't play anything else.

normalfags who've never played the original

They don't play Persona either, they watch it on youtube.

WHO GIVES A SINGLE DAMN ABOUT IT

IT'S TWEWY 2 TIME IDIOT

Be honest, it's teenagers running around Japan fighting demons, it's not that different.

Persona 5 invented Shibuya, dummy!

Persona 5 babies don't play games.
Not even Persona 5 much less other RPGs.

So, SMT?

No, that was Jet Set Radio.

We didn't ask.

This. They're the Harry Potter fans of JRPGs.

Because TWEWY and Persona 5 feature the exact same locations as each other. It cant be a coincidence at all since those places dont exist.

TWEWY is a relatively niche ARPG whereas P5 is a mega-popular title so it shouldn't be surprising that they would inevitably compare the former to the latter. Still annoys the fuck out of me, though.

I still can't believe that we're getting both an anime and a sequel. Is Square Enix undergoing a redemption arc?

They just announced a remastered SaGa Frontier so you tell me.

It's cool they made Shibuya real and all but they should've made Inaba irl instead. Just set up some smoke machines or something.

I expect the niche thing to be changed soon when the anime releases. Gonna have a lot of secondaries around that time.

Is the TWEWY Switch port really that bad?

It's the best of a series of objectively inferior ports

>Be honest, it's teenagers running around Japan fighting demons, it's not that different.
That's literally a cornerstone of anime as we know it.

Would it be a grievous sin to just play that version?

People are stupid, who would have ever guessed

Didn't Nomura say something about Neo being a sequel to the anime?

Isn't the anime retelling the event of the first game anyway?

Twewy strongest point comes from the ds support and use of the duel screen: you control neku trought touch screen, and the companion on the top screen trought directional and button inputs. In the ports you just have neku (and the companion acts as a final move minigame). The switch adds a new day, and hd portraits and Sprites, so you can give it a try, but you get half the experience

Yeah, but they're obviously modernizing it aka ditching flip phones for smart phones so the timeline lines up more with Neo.

Yeah, but he had this to say.

>There is no official Twitter for the game, so I'll bother you. The game that will be the sequel to the anime that will be aired in April next year will be next summer. When I designed the sequel hero, I didn't think the mask would become a normal world. The mysterious smartphone symbol meant NEO. I look forward to working with you next year. Have a nice year @ Nomura

Persona IS SMT, though
