fug didn't mean to autopass, oh well I get to rest

Being forced to vary pressure/mixup is really fun. Watching people learn how to deal with it is great for me too. Love adapting to stuff like that.

You can mash/anti-air if I go for 214D or drive cancels on block.

You can technically mash during 6B overheads, but I wouldn't advise it because it's early in my blockstring and that's in places where I can easily frame trap or true blockstring with a C button (6B gatlings off 5A, 5B, and 6A). Mashing or jumping after blocking 5B, 5A, or 6A is generally a risk because of that fact. Technically 5A leaves me at -1 on block and 5B -2, but that's only if I decide to reset the blockstring through stagger pressure. If I choose to gatling I can easily just continue the gatling. You can technically jump out if I 5B or 5A and attempt a reset, but if I gatling instead you might get caught in jump startup, so you have to make a decision there too.

Once I commit to 6C or 3C I'm forced to do a special and reset the blockstring. So 236A, 236C, 214D, 5D, 2D are my general options at that point. That's why you'll see something like 3C into 214D on block, it's one of my only options at that point. The only other way for me to safely continue the blockstring once I reach the C buttons would be some kind of rapid cancel from cat spirit encore or 5D. Otherwise I take a risk.

That doesn't mean that I don't have options after I do take a risk with 5D~C, 214D, or 5C jump cancel (5C is one of her only options that are jump cancelable on block). I still have all my jumps/air dashes left of course. But that blockstring reset is no where close to tight.

That's generally how Tao works. Barrier doesn't do all that much because of 2B sliding in, 2C vacuuming, and 214D/5D bringing me back in. It can actually help me because it adds like 1-2 frames blockstun iirc.

Damn, anti aired me every time I chained in, guess I need to try something different

Is the dumb crossover game dead?

That being said I miss BBCP1 where drive C cancels were +2 on block, blockstrings into 5D were true blockstrings, and 236C was 0 on block. Now those options were nice. All of that was nerfed at this point, among a lot of other stuff.

kk thanks, I've never played against a Tao this good. I definitely have been using barrier too much if that's the case.

Kagura is one scary lad

>murdered for being flat

No problem, you can see where the character has serious flaws though. And that's in neutral oddly enough. High mobility, but no actual good buttons to use with it. Every normal has Dahlsim-like hurtboxes outside of hitboxes, basically requiring you to counter hit by speed instead of by hitbox, or whiff punishing, or catching you blocking so she can start a blockstring. Getting close in the first place as Tao can be an absolute nightmare depending on the matchup, and that's because she was stripped of a lot of neutral tools by nerfs throughout the games. Basically I want to get into the situation where I can blockstring/mixup and keep up oki because of those flaws. And then somebody bursts I and I have to start all over.

Sorry I only got a couple of rounds in the lobby. I got some stuff to take care of before the night ends. GG's, and have a good night.

Do you pretty much always have to block once the match starts against Nine?
it seems like you’re right in her range at the very start

I've always thought a spinoff game where you play as a member of the Magic Division or Librarium would be fun.

Is there crossplay?

no

I think the only thing that reaches is 5B that has any sort of speed. 6B if you jump, but if you jump and block it's not like they can do much off that. Maybe look and see what your best options are versus those two things, and then start looking at what her other options are after that. Remember she doesn't have some of her toolkit when she doesn't have a spell in her pocket.

Need to stop with corner Houtenjin, everyone is either expecting it or just goes over my head

Is it worth even attempting to get back into this series? Am I going to remotely understand what's going on since Continuum Shift?

As you can see I can easily get into situations where I'm just making all the wrong decisions in neutral because of this and just never get a chance to do much of anything. Pretty frustrating actually and it's very easy to fall into that problem with this character in CF. It's definitely something I would have to work on if the game was more active.

Funny thing. The world is successfully destroyed in CF but the main characters don't realize it. Then when they do the have a reason to recap the story.
