What's a good antivirus? I got a job, so I can finally pay for one, would like some suggestions.

The best antivirus is common sense. The entire "antivirus software" shit is a meme for boomers who shouldn't be operating computers in the first place.
It's not like a fucking single one of these so-called antivirus solutions will magically "fix" your computer if you get one one anyway. At that point you might as well reformat.
I think Kaspersky is supposed to be the best, I got Symantec Endpoint from my college which works great but it doesn't seem like you can actually buy it as a consumer
I haven't used an antivirus for as long as I remember and nothing bad ever happened. Just don't be dumb.
Just defrag your HDD once a day dont bother with anti virus softwares
Eset is a good one and its cheap
>asking Zig Forums for anti-virus advice
M8, at least half the people on here will download the vicariously labeled 4mb exe on Limewire.
AVG had some really fucked up shit getting past and it did nothing to remove it.
Norton deleted a ton of Steam games for having "backdoors" and deleted trainers for being "cheat devices". Literally the WORST antivirus program out there.
Don't do this. So many dead harddrives.
windows has a antivirus built in, youre good to go
This, seriously, for home use it protects you as good as eset or kaspersky would, for free.
Should I have asked /g/?
This website if full of viruses and worms though. That's why everyone on Zig Forums is into lolli.
>tfw no loli worm gf
Feels real surreal man.
If you have a job you shouldn't be getting viruses since you aren't downloading keygens anymore.
facts.
Personally I use Kaspersky, give it a look user
Shouldn't you ask /g/ this question OP?
The US government bitched that Kaspersky found and fixed a ton of their backdoors, so that right there warrants a look in my opinion.
Just use Microsoft Defender
Protogent antivirus
The real point to having one isn't to fix problems after they've happened, but to proactively stop it from happening to begin with. Anything without real-time is worse than garbage - at that point you're better off using virustotal.
That said, nowadays noscript and ublock in your browser will stop far more problems than any antivirus will.
Just use defender, and security extensions like ublock.
Windows Security. Scan downloads under 500MB with virustotal.com. Scan larger files with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware.
BTW instead of antivirus you should say antimalware. A virus is just a particular type of malware that replicates itself and infects other systems.
This. If you don't have windows 10 then I would have said Malwarebytes for scans other than that you don't need anything
You people are aware that antivirus solutions are 90% snakeoil, right? Like those "clean and optimize your PC!" programs you can install.
The most popular forms of infections these days are trojans for a botnet, miners making that sweet bling or encryption-rape. If you get any of these it literally does not matter which AV you have, you are still fucked.
lostboy.exe
there is no way to stop a program from running on your computer. computers are magic
Windows Defender + Malwarebytes with a hitman pro scan off usb once every few weeks is all you need
>90% snakeoil
i dunno what that even means lol
/g/ee i wish there was a board for tech related questions
Sure there is, don't download the program.
windows defender on 10 is already good enough, install more AV is just asking for problems
I think he's referencing the Snake Oiler class in West of Loathing but it still doesn't really make sense
make a pi-hole
/g/ response would be mostly the same. After a few dozen post of people telling you to convert to linux, install gentoo, and asking if you read your SICP yet.
And subsequently your asshole is freely unguarded by Russian backdoors.
is virustotal a good site?
