Dark souls games are trying to essentially be an action adventure game with new story and gameplay like the old Zelda games, it tries to have dungeons, areas, an engaging story, deep combat etc... But it fails on most of this stuff. I think Miyazaki should of stuck with his original idea and made the player into an already established character, he should of focused more into making the levels/areas feel more complete, remove leveling, and made interacting with characters deeper.
Overall I would give each game an average of 6/10 to 9/10 and that's about it. No jank combat or deep lore can make you any better... Morrowind did that 30 years ago.
This series fails at what it attempts to do
Don't care, still buying every From game
From's games are pretty shit but what's more shit is your opinion.
Neck yourself.
>Morrowind
>But it fails on most of this stuff
very compelling argument
>and made interacting with characters deeper
How about you play a visual novel like The Witcher 3 instead?
Morrwind is objectively and subjectively better than all of souls games.
It's not even in the same genre.
Also they shouldn't have included online play if it is always this lackluster. 5 games and the online is still shit, I want to play with my pals all thro the fucking game and not just be panished after one mistake. Could have made the game more fun and replayble
Have you heard of a game called Sekiro? You might like it!
The original Demon's Souls had great PvP.
What do you mean? Both games are janky and have big lore no?
who asked for your shit opinion?
Your uncle.
They are not the same type of game. Although I do think Morrowind does have more interesting lore.
>it tries to have...areas
Wow, stunning and brave commentary
Holy fuck dude. Just git gud and shut up.
>This series fails at what it attempts to do
having in mind that every game sell millions, i don’t think so.
and im saying this as a guy who doesn’t like souls games
Finished plays ds1, ds2, ds3, bloodborne, and Dropped demon's souls half way thro. I think I have enough authority to talk about those games since I have been gaming for whooping 20 years I played some games that even your mom wouldnt know of so what?
everything after dark souls 1 has been let down in the Dark souls series and that new remake of demon souls looks like trash. I am done with fromsoftware for now and I highly doubt the next game being written by that hackjob fat ass fantasy writer will change my mind.
>It tries to have an engaging story
No it fucking doesn't
>Morrowind did that 30 years ago.
Gaming for 20 whole years??? Sorry didn’t realize I was talking to an elder gamer I apologize sir.
>This series fails at what it attempts to do
>6/10 to 9/10
>9/10
Doesn't sound like a failure to me, even 6/10 is above average

What happened?
They are good games, but fail at what they try to do. They would be better off as an open world games and not a game with interconnected world/levels.
“Prepare to Die Edition”
das2 was only a let down graphically. everything else exceeds expectations.
You haven't touched a single one of these games if you've come to these conclusions. You are so far off every mark I don't even know what the fuck.
You're retarded. I say this with perfect conviction.
Yeah. Legit my first ds game and I loved it very much, ds shouldn't be constrained to shitty cycle dark vs good of whatever. I hope there will be ds4 and it can be as original as much as it wants to.
Name a single studio that makes games like FromSoft as good as FromSoft. I don't just mean "soulslikes" I mean games with great 3D level design, exploration, somewhat simple but fun combat, and pretty good lore.
Bethesda creators of morrowind
Souls games are the natural 3D evolution of Castlevania games.
What level design? Its been all about combat, armous and bosses after ds1. Level design went out of the window
I want a game with Bloodborne's combat, but with the armor and weapon selection of Dark Souls, with the structure of the Chalice Dungeons but the level design of Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1. Inspired by the visuals of Shadow of the Colossus.
Essentially a game where I delve deeper and deeper into a dungeon with stronger and stronger enemies, until at some point I am facing primordial entities in the center of the world.
>game fails because i said so.
Did you confused Zig Forums with the steam reviews or something? What a shit thread.
>Bethesda games
>Any level design at all, let alone great level design
>fun combat
>good exploration
Good try. They're not even similar games at all, and the Bethesda games I have played were not good
i dont see you making oc
I mean DS1 is the best at level design but I think it's still great in the games that came after. I had a lot of fun going through the levels of DS2 and 3, other than the obviously bad ones like Black Gulch or the fuckin twin swamps of 3. I might be conflating "level design" with "fun to explore" but overall I liked it in all 3 games.
>Dark souls games are trying to essentially be an action adventure game with new story and gameplay like the old Zelda games
PFFFFFT HAHAHAHAHAH
ZELDA?FUCKING ZELDA? That game is a fucking meme outside nintendotards communities.
Zelda does not have an engaging story, it's always the same fucking shit
Deep combat? Zelda has that? when?
The thing zelda had was being on the edge of video game making in the NES and 64 here but when the wii and gamecube here came it fell down the hole when it could not compete with okami, fable, psychonauts, kingdom hears, ni no kuni, prince of persia, monster hunter, all of this games had 1 thing that it did better than in the zelda games.
I'm sure he wanted to design bosses like Zelda's but there aren't enough equipments to be as creative. Zelda's bosses are too easy and literal puzzles while souls bosses became predictable reflex tests. I'd love something in between.
No thanks I don't like rougelites, But if the levels are manmade I'm in. I remember diablo 1 having something similar.
