Should I get a Switch or a Switch Lite...

Should I get a Switch or a Switch Lite? I don't know anything about Nintendo but the Switch has some great ports and indie games I'd pretty much exclusively play on the go.

If you are on the go often, then I consider it a must-buy. There's not a long list of truly great first party games, but there are so many indies and ports that pick up the slack. Only get the Lite if you don't have a partner/roomate etc to do multiplayer with on the tv.

Dark Souls Remastered is currently on sale $19.99 in the e-shop.
Memory cards are still on sale on Amazon.

Make the plunge!

regular and that's from someone who has never docked the switch

Wait until they announce a new iteration

I heard the Lite is both cheaper AND has a better build quality, hence my attraction to it.

Don’t get a lite. Because when the analog stick(s) go bad (and they will) you can’t replace them easily. With the regular switch you just get a new joy con.

I play almost exclusively handheld, but detachable Joycons is super comfy. I play a lot in bed with the system propped on its side and my arms in a more relaxed position.

Get a gameboy or 3ds instead

regular
unless you plan on playing exclusively in handheld, in which case lite.

Wait until Switch 2/pro

Originally bought a lite each for gf and I.
Got literally 80% total money back in cash from GS. Managed to snag a Switch for us to share. During pandemic shortage, no less. Best decision ever.

TL;DR I would spend the extra $100 for the full Switch.

>AND has a better build quality
Handhelds revisions don't get better in build quality, they are more cheaply-made than the original model they're based on and that's been a fact since the DS/PSP days.

>That coral switch
I fucking HATE you. I can't seem to find one anywhere over here

Yes I just got one for myself, had been using my sisters og switch for a while, turns out the save transfer system is not as bad as I thought, I pay for the subscription though. Bought darkwood and darkest dungeon, haven't tried the latter. No more heroes runs great on lite too. Any other titles I should check out? I was thinking of getting moonlighter

Wait for the Switch Pro

190€ for pic related in my country right now. is it a good deal?

This.

The inherent flaw in the JoyCons requires a replacement or repair within a few years. When you experience drift, you won't be able to fix it unless you have the regular Switch.

Don't get a Lite without an extensive, prolonged warranty and a repair center nearby. The sticks go bad in about a year of regular use, and unlike the original you can't just get new ones (and replacing them by yourself is a huge pain in the ass) so you're more or less fucked unless you send it to a repair center and without a warranty jewtendo will charge you about $150-$200 for the repairs.
I'd honestly recommend to not get a Lite outright. The screen is terrible, the build quality is somehow worse and the dpad is so fucking awful it's baffling, not to mention the battery life isn't anywhere near as good as it could and should be.

Don't buy the regular Switch if you plan to play it handheld. That thing is way heavier than it looks

Absolutely, but can you still find them? I tried online but did not have any luck

are you in europe?

Do you need to buy a memory card for the regular Switch?

need info

I wouldn't get a console, that has sticks which are known for drifting, with said sticks attached to it.

I love my Lite but statistically the sticks become a problem a little too often. When mine started spazzing out I was able to fix them with antibacterial alcohol on a q-tip tho.

It’s much better for handheld mode than normal switch. You can feel the momentum of the joycons hanging onto the screen on the original. Not a great feel for handheld gaming. The lite is much more light and solid.

Feels about as gameboy-like as you could expect from a portable 360.

No, it has 32gb of memory. I highly recommend getting a micro sd card for extra storage though, especially if you're getting a lot of digital games.

Splatoon is the best game on the system and it's miserable on Lite. Get big Switch.

Can you just use any micro SD card or does the Switch only accept its Nintendo brand?

Imagine being such a nigger that you don't have the intuition to order a set of joysticks for cheap and do the repair yourself.

You can get anything.

but its complicated to do it yourself

Wait for the Switch Pro in April 2021.

Buy normal switch.
I've bought one last week and can't say how good decision it was.
Screen is bigger, if your joycon fails you can simply open it and repair or buy new one.
Also being able to play as handhold or docked to tv is also good thing.
Also lots of games require tv mode so with Lite you're held back.

This, switch lite is much lighter than regular switch, it could mean the difference between you bringing it with you everyday or just leaving at home.
