Unity was unplayable on release tho. Lots of people were unable to progress due to bugs not starting scripts etc.

>regarded as the best game in the franchise
That's not II and Black Flag

This. 2 and 4 are regarded as the best games in the series, I don't know what OP is smoking.

I miss unity. Dont get me wrong, I liked AC:Origin too, but I miss being an actual assassin.

But most of all, I miss nigga like you wouldnt believe.

by casuals maybe, true patricians and people who are actual fans regard unity as the best and definitive game in the series

an actual next gen game at the time. shame about a borked release. if ubisoft gave it another year of development, it would've been the best entry in the series.

arkham knight

This.
Unity has better parkour, stealth, customization.
Also the combat was good, multiple ennemies were a real threat and fleeing was usually the best option.

What?

There is still plenty wrong with unity, and on release it was hated because people couldnt actually play the damn thing.

Also, fuck ubisoft for removing the double assassin blade.

fuck I remember, Ubi bit more than they could chew, the new consoles at the time just weren't powerful enough to run the game as it was intended

but man is paris in unity beautiful, it has the be the most realistic and best looking city in all of vidya, better than even new york in spiderman 2018, the level of detail and polish, the smoothness of the parkour, the massive crowds, unity is a fucking masterpiece

I agree, yet another game that gets a bad rep because of a bad port and for being ahead of it's time at release

>awful, slow andclunky combat, no 1 hit kill parry so fights take years
>no bombs, knifes, crossbow is garbage
>no thiefs, no assasins, no mercs, no whores
>no way of fast travel like a horse, no parachute, running on the streets to get to missions is faster than parkour
>no cool missions with vehicles
>u cant unlock all (even though only smoke and infinite ammo are good) abilities before you do certain missions
Than fuck you can just buy the 8 bullet pistol and skip all fights and stealth sessions

unity was also the last ''true'' assassin's creed game, everything after was just witcher 3 lite

But Unity is garbage. 2, Brotherhood or Black Flag are still regarded as the peak by anyone with a functioning brain.

No love for revelations?
It's brotherhood but better

Is Unity, Syndicate or Rogue considered any good? I'm nearing my playthrough of Black Flag and loved every second of it.

sneed

Rogue is closer to blackflag with shipcombat.

Constantinople is boring.

Rogue is the Dark Souls II of Black Flag

>Unity
NO
>Syndicate
No unless you like Skyrim combat
>Rogue
If you liked BF you will like it

The setting was fucking terrible however. Even AC3's was better. Black Flag was a great mix of good story, interesting setting and likable protag. It isn't the best at what it does aside from naval combat but the overall package makes it the best AC.

Really? Hmm I enjoyed dropping bombs into huge crowds of people, then getting stabbed by an assasin and then getting pickpocketed by a thief.
Also you could "loot" enemies during combat with the hook blade

I only really miss the parkour from Unity, everything else just wasn't worth the clunkiness. The combat especially was really horrible to get into. But the parkour, despite the glitches, was the best in the series. Arno was also a meh protagonist in a meh story.
I wish they would go back to this sort of AC formula but they definitely won't now. Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla has sold more than every other AC game combined I'm guessing so they're gonna stick with that.

again, your mindset is what reddit thinks now and what people thought in 2015, years later when everyone can run the game at high framerates with 0 issues unity is regarded as the last pure assassin's creed experience, as I said before the city is the most beautiful and realized city in any game ever, for the fans of the original two games especially unity has what origins, odyssey and valhalla don't

this has been known for a while, but as of recent on asscreed related forums it has slowly and slowly getting more momentum and the majority of hardcore fans regard it as THE best game in the series, myself included, fucking love this game and the better pc you have the better the game is, best and most significant loot, BEST parkour, solid as fuck and interesting story and main character

all recent videos too

black flag is a great game, great pirate game, but unity is a better assassin's creed game

Commbat is trash and it has no real content

Only contrarians around here hype up Unity.

Literally fucking WHO has rated Unity the best???

AC1>AC2>ACUnity>AC3>ACorgins

These are the only true AC games you need to play

So terrible?

Why did games like Unity and Call of Duty: Advance Warfare look so good compared to later games?

Cheers, I've been looking at getting Rogue due to the Steam sale

similar but inferior

Unity was the first game where they stopped thinking about what happens when you walked up to the target.
In the beginning of the game you can see the King during a mission and are told you won't get anywhere near him. Yet you can walk up to the platform he is on like 10 feet away. With a gun.

Good use of GI and lighting. The AC series generally toned down the effect except some indoor areas and I'm not sure about CoD, haven't played them in a few years. Last one I played was Infinite Warfare.

combat is the same for pretty much all the asscreed games and besided you don't play asscreed for bamham combat you play these games for stealth kills, I also fail to understand your whole ''no content'' argument, unity has the most elaborate missions in the series, every set piece location has at least 3 entry point and several final kill locations, take the notre dame priest kill they showed off at E3, you have like 7 entry points and 10 kill spots, how you handle it is entirely up to you, freedom to do the kill as you wish, I guess you could go hurrrrrr through the front door and start pressing square and triangle to counter, but that's my whole point, that's valhalla, origins, etc. that's not very assassin's creed

>best AC game

Kys Retard

Isn't GI and lighting the same thing?

>Praising anything after Syndicate
Fake fan. There's two timelines.
Origins onward isn't part of the same timeline, it's a new nuked timeline. Think of it like the new Pokémon movies that came out that retell Ash's story, they're happening in another SIMILAR universe. If you think anything after Syndicate is happening in the original universe, look again; a lot of shit contradicts itself.

AC straight up got soft-rebooted, as far as its concerned; the Desmond story happened differently, not exactly the same.

Desmond is a brain in a jar in the original timeline, but is fused to the Ancient's version of the Animus database in the new timeline. In AC3 that zap straight up killed him, but Nu-AC says it downloaded him. Retroactive storytelling is called a soft reboot by definition.

I still really dont like it.
Its fun to run around, but the story is shit and the entire map is littered with garbage to collect. Add the multiplayer only shit and its shit overall

>I actually go to reddit and know what they think
>I actually go to Ubishit asscreed forums and know what they think
Just fuck off and never come back. Unity is dogshit.

Not necessarily. Lighting covers direct light points and drawing shadows, shit like that. GI refers to indirect lighting effects. Before ray tracing, GI was generally approximated and faked but depending on how much time you spent adjusting the effect, it can turn out great while running well too. Ray traced GI definitely looks better though as it doesn't need to be approximated anymore but is way, way more costly.

Not him; but I wouldn't say it was dogshit, not the best in the series by any means, but Jesus there are worse AC games. Have you played Monkeys Sail a Boat Stand alone DLC?

6 years later and the game straight up looks better than valhalla
