It's becoming less affordable to get a decent gaming PC going that isn't under 2k in Australia without going 2nd hand this next generation. Granted this is almost starting from scratch exception being monitor and peripherals.

X060 range from Nvidia used to be that perfect budget card for me but the cards are getting more expensive because of the other non gaming architecture requirements in hardware to meet Nvidia's push into certain product categories in the GPU space.

I got my pc with a 1060 3 years ago and I've yet to play a game that I can't decently run, unless horribly optimised.
1080p 60fps for now is good. May upgrade some years in the future, but now I have to squirrel money away.

In 1080p i don't think i've seen my 1070 reach 100% usage yet. I had to upgrade my CPU instead because games are finally starting to make use of more cores. 1080p 60fps is comfy as fuck.

I almost wish I was in your position as low end parts would be worth it by now. wtf did you buy 10 years ago that the low end shit (CPU + GPU for like 400 bucks) wouldn't be worth it now?
my predicament is that GPUs already weren't worth it in 2017 and 18 so in 2018 I bought a cheap (200 bucks) 1060 6G, thinking I would only keep it for a year or two. here we are two years later and there is nothing to replace a 1060 with and may not be for another year. there are GPUs out there that would be valid upgrades, but the prices are a joke. I'm not gonna pay 500 bucks to merely double my framerates.
