started playing a long time ago. was really boring. literally just endless boring sidequests. i got to a boss fight with this giant gryphon and it was too hard so i gave up

I don't like visual novels.

Even my nomrie friends that play shit like call of duty couldn't resist more than an hour with this shit game so yeah, no way I waste even 7 bucks on this boring mess

I recently played it for the first time and it was alright. The story is good and it has a fuckload of content considering the price on sale. I see a lot of people complain about the combat but I'm convinced they just played on easy and one button mashed the entire game. I played on death march and you actually have to use potions/oils, your spells and be somewhat careful in sword combat.

Overall, 8/10 game that Zig Forums only hates because it was successful.

Opening the god awful menu everytime you have to apply oils and potions doesn't make the combat good, it's still dodging/slashing/quen for almost every encounter. Bosses are terrible because movesets are really small.

Game was only hard during white orchard and then became easy, as long as you kept upgrading equipment.
t. played game on deathmarch upto skellige before dropping it since I already played it once before.

Played the 1st one, while playing I got curious about the novels, read the novels while finishing the game, got a raging boner, great reading.
Went onto play Witcher 2, right away inundated with references to the novel, about to cum, my pc is trash, can't run it properly, got blue balled.

CDPR got all high and mighty once they 'fixed' it (see: reorganized the menus in a now visually abysmal but more functional way) and people stopped complaining because those turned off never came back

It’s just not everyone’s style. I did every quest but people like my brother would rather grind rocket league and Diep.io for 10 hours straight than sit down with an RPG. We’re all different I guess.

You don;t really have to. The story is relatively self contained. Also, the first game picks up after where they left off in the novel so it makes no difference since you'll be lost on characters even if you start there.
