The only way Silent Hill could have been truly saved was by Kojima and Junji Ito. Ito's involvement was one of the most crucial aspects. I still can't believe Konami wasted this opportunity completely and just jewed the fuck out.

The game looked great visually and all, but isn't this the complete opposite of what Silent Hill fans want? It was jumpscare after jumpscare, but I'm pretty sure this series is all about psychological horror. This demo felt like it was solely meant to impress redditors and dudebros.

That was just thinly veiled damage control on their end. The real reason they shut it down is because Inafune greenlit the project on his own with no input like he did with Dead Rising, only this time it was tied to Legends which sold under a million copies when you combined both games, so they didn't want to deal with it and shut it down while making the excuse that no one was interested.
I think the problem with PT is that it's great in isolation because it's a short really intense experience, but people automatically think the full game would have been that good and focused. It's really difficult to keep up that kind of energy for a full length game. Not even the beloved original 3 Silent Hill games are that strong throughout despite being lauded as the best horror games of all time. It likely would have turned out better than all the western Silent Hill games, but with Kojima at the helm I don't think it would have been nearly as good as the original games, given Death Stranding.
