Bump

Monhun games only die if servers are taken down, you can still find lobbies in the games released 5+ years ago. World is still active was just playing earlier, although most of the activity is at endgame.

I mean there's no point in getting it unless you really can't wait for Rise at this point.

what

They're two different games, what are you even saying?

Probably still pretty popular. I noticed a bunch of SoS signals pop up and I hadn't played it in quite a long time.

Jumped back in because Iceborne was on sale. Only thing that really bugged me was, additional character recreations costs 3 bucks.

Rise won't have master rank on pc for well over a year and a half from now.

this

Do I miss anything by just buying the base game now and Iceborne later on? All Iceborne content is set after the main game right?

you miss the clutch claw and iceborne weapon moves, i believe.

I bought MHW in mid September and IB beginning of November. This is my first MH game and I am having A LOT of fun.

rise is 100% gonna have several if not most world monsters while also retaining all the mechanics (the ones people liked anyway). World had nothing to set it apart frankly.

I don't think you miss out on much really maybe some movesets but other than that iceborne adds stuff that takes place after mhw's main campaign and is only accessible once beating the base game

dont you need to buy iceborne to get that on world?

I might be wrong but I don’t think you’ll have access to the clutch claw. But that’s all I can think of. Everything new is locked in Iceborne. With the upcoming update in December, all event quests will be permanently active and all seasonal events (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Anniversary) rotate every 2 weeks. So you will never have to worry about missing out on anything. And don’t worry about coming into it late, World has a pretty good population even on Xbox which is the least played platform.

You can solo 99% of the content, there are still people that play on low rank and high rank so you are fine

You miss out on really good moveset additions and clutch claw.
Base world SnS is a fucking toothpick for example. Iceborne buffed it to a fucking juggernaut status.

The game is still active and will be active until Rise will be released on PC. But you won't get many players in early game, vast majority plays on endgame and cycles event quests and investigations.
Thus said, if you sos on low levels you will almost certainly summon an endgame player who will rape content for you.

In the patch coming in a week or so, that becomes true 100% since it's removing Safi's multiplayer scaling. Some things like MR Kulve will be a huge ballache to solo, but it's at least possible to do everything.

>Some things like MR Kulve will be a huge ballache to solo
Kulve is piss easy to solo just by tenderizing her head and chest and driving her into a wall twice in the beginning.
But it's still more enjoyable in coop, at least.

People still play 4U and GU.

Rise is still 5+ months away. More than enough time to fully experience World

Finally did it
Feels good, bros

Nice, now farm for his armor. It’s godly. His Hunting Horn hits like a truck as well.

Nice character, always good to see unique faces.

weak

Good job, now do it dozens more times to get all the weapons and layered + both sets and charms :)

After so many failed attempts already had all his mats
I had 9 evil eyes before i killed him.

>1000 hours
And here I am only around 150 and only HR 47.

there's a reason to though. GU is the only way to experience full styles/arts and 4U is still considered by many to be the best game in the series. Similarly third gen is the only way to experience water fully and stuff like FU is if you want truly classic gameplay. World will be straight up obsolete when Rise releases. Might even be able to argue 4U will be obsolete when Rise releases but I guess that depends on how good Rise is. I mean there are still plenty of things we don't know about Rise

>will be obsolete
Except for everyone who doesn't own a switch. Simply because it looks like a 3ds game.

My hunter ranks are really low for my time spent. Mostly due to excessive amounts of time spent in expedition pre Iceborne, and quests taking me twice as long to finish in iceborne.

Nice. I still need to craft a few more weapons and I’ll have everything. The problem with Fatty’s weapons is it’s hard to go back to anything else. Everything feels like a wet noodle in comparison.

Rise is supposedly coming to PC.

And it will still look like a 3DS game turning 98% of MHW playerbase off.

It's the most active platform for the game.

I'll never forgive capcom for taking tri down.

I thought PlayStation is still more active, especially with the PS5 boost MHW got?

>PS5 boost
What? Like the 3 people who actually managed to beat the scalpers?

Nah, ps communities are dead as fuck. Also there is no ps5 boost.

Nah, PC is way more active at least outside the nip land
And i still see a shit ton of japs on pc.

I meant like performance boost since PS5 does Iceborne in 4k60 right? I don’t play on PlayStation but always thought it was the most populated even today.

is this bait? I'm sure they'll go crazy with the graphics for the PC port not like graphics matter at all to most monhun fans

That’s interesting to hear.

I'm talking animation quality, not graphics. No one wants to fight a monster moving at 15 frames a second because of the physics engines limitations.
