It isn't awful but don't expect anything world breaking. I barely used the companions as their personalities were all caricatures of actual people. Victor Max was the only not annoying one.
Play solo, max out long gun and stealth. You'll one shot basically everything in the same minus the "last boss".

Honestly it depends on your standards. For me it's the only game I grew to actually hate because I played through it entirely expecting it to get good and it just didn't. I've almost fallen asleep dozen of times.
At the same time the game doesn't have terrible moments I guess? Dialogues are okay, gameplay is shallow but okay.
I guess the best way to describe TOW would be to call it a micro-budget Fallout. Like, 10% of it. And 10% of the creativity

Painfully average, it sets out to be space New Vegas and it does that to the tiniest amount, it’s questlines are interesting but have no payoff, melee combat feels great until you’re high level and every combat situation becomes a slap fight between bigger numbers, all the guns feel the same despite sometimes having extremely different looks, the “science” meme weapons are usually locked behind long ass questlines or treasure hunts and are essentially worthless unless you been planning to use them and spec into them from the beginning. Followers are the absolute worst and have no substance whatsoever and exist to be meat shields

It's a AA game. The combat mechanics are fairly jank and it's fairly trivial to trivialize it to "Oblivion stealth archer" levels.

The story is kinda alright, but the morality is EXTREMELY forced. Every single thing revolves around the "CAPITALIZIM IS BAD!" theme. Everything. Sure, they let you make decisions contrary to the message they're pushing, and they don't mechanically punish you for doing so, but the two outcomes are "Everyone rejects the system, starts a garden and changes their ways and lives a better life than they thought possible." or "Civilization collapses, everyone dies of plague or starves to death because the rich refused to help the poor and also refused to do any work out of self preservation."

I don't usually indulge the "culture wars" shit that is all over this board the past few years, but this game was really harmed by it. It's not as bad as people will make it out to be, but unless you're beyond the 80th percentile on the left, it's going to be jarringly leftist.

The game is utterly soulless and really not very fun. Every character is an androgynous lesbian. The setting is uninspired and they put zero effort into the RPG mechanics.

This is a truly awful video game, do not buy it.

It's pretty fun if you just go around shooting all the Disney movie tier characters in the face.

OP here, yeah based on what's been said I'm avoiding this one. Sounds like my exact fears with this game are the reality. It also just looks as soulless as a game can get (while trying to be the opposite in theory)

yes, and you can kill all the dykes and reddit characters with 1 shot to the head with a revolver. i played this game as an evil bastard and had a blast.

Its solid 7/10. Worth playing at least once.

It's okay, just ignore the tumblr nigger character and the lesbian shenanigan and it's will scratch your fallout itch, Ellie + Vicar are the best companion

They only have 1 joke that gets repeated over and over again. And that joke is just 'capitalism bad'.

I stopped playing once I completed all the quests on Emerald Vale. It was pretty forgettable.
I should probably finish, can't be much left.

This was me, then I told myself it's like kotor and while a lot of the weapons feel the same there's got to be some cool unique shit and powerful loot out there if I look hard enough. Then 10 hours later I dropped the game after I realized I had upgraded from Assault Rifle 1 to Assault Rifle 2 to Assault Rifle 3 and all the science weapons were meme tier.

Science weapons were very dissapointing. Only 1 of them is SSS tier others are shit joke tier. And despite having 3 perks and entire skill tree dedicated to them there are like 5 science weapons in the game.
