Why is there such a disconnect between reviewers and actual players?

>JPRG that is not Persona is automatically not good

reviewers have an agenda, which is sometimes dictated to them by their boss, which is dictated to them by their corporation which is dictated to them by (((them)))

>IGN sucks I'm never using it again
>Look that shit IGN said, it's so dumb
If you hate ign so much, just stop waching and given them money

Instead of taking it at their own pace and enjoying the game they played it on a deadline to hit embargo meaning they definitely just stuck to the story and engaged in a few side activities to have an extra paragraph for the review.

The reviewers' job is not to describe the games, it's about influencing how the games are perceived and influencing the future games.

I think it might have a slight political undertone, the meh reviews, showing the demonstrators as corrupt

I thought it was good commentary about the George Soros funded BLM protests

You know this game came out before the BLM protests this year right?

Its more about the culture of protesting in general, how people get into it because its trendy, and they don't try to understand what the issue they are protesting is actually about.

they were protesting against illegal immigrants though

The only people buying Like A Dragon (on Steam) are people who would like the game no matter what.
Reviewers have to represent the average person's view. What if there was a chance that a person who was not interested in the franchise get this one (for the Dragon Quest references or otherwise) or this is their first entry?
As a reviewer, you have to represent the viewpoints of everyone, not just your own.

Reviewers job is to review games for everyone. The players review games but for themselves or similar people.

If a reviewers tries to review a very obscure dungeon crawler it is gonna have a relatively low score but autists that love obsucre dungeon crawler will call it a 10/10 based on that another autist like him will play it too

>illegal
Yeah, japan has a huge illegal immigration problem lmao

how is him giving them money?

Because game journalists hate video games and want a series of cutscenes that complement their political beliefs so they can feel their lives have meaning and they can lecture others to feel superior.

Come on, man, we've known this since gamergate.

did you play the game? the prostitutes they were protesting against were mostly illegal immigrants who end up getting tricked by the main villain and deported

But Yakuza is a series of cutscenes

When you're supposed to hate the main villain but he tricks immigrants into being deported so he's actually pretty cool

.not everyone uses adblockers

>PC Gamer is a bunch of retarded kotaku rejects
No shit they hate it

>Because game journalists hate video games and want a series of cutscenes that complement their political beliefs so they can feel their lives have meaning and they can lecture others to feel superior.
Sounds just like Yakuza. Even more so since Like a Dragon is turn-based combat.

>Game gets good review
>PAID SHILL PAID SHILL PAID SHILL!

>game gets bad review
>the reviewer doesnt know what they are talking about! the game deserves a higher score!

>retarded politics poster who tries to derail thread by claiming a year old japanese game is actually about american protests from 3 months ago
>playing games

I've recently realized that it's been years since I actually checked out metacritic or a review.

>have to play the previous main 7 games, 2 remakes, and several spinoffs to understand the plot
yeah, no thanks

>mock insert Christian fundie type group uses strong arm tactics to try and shut down an illegal brothel who's actually employing illegal immigrants
I wanted both sides to lose

Also, don't forget that the former is if the game is a western game (or a Nintendo, Capcom, Bamco game) and the latter is if the game is Japanese.

you don't, it doesn't even have a number in the west

>actaul players

You mean all those faggots that keep buying the annual FIFA, MADDEN, NBA 2K, and COD?

the ones that actually play the game

IGN loves to shit on some games just to get clicks from fans of the series.

That's pretty accurate though
