Deep sea thread to celebrate the discovery of the duobrachium sparksae
Why are vidya-unrelated topics on Zig Forums always better discussed than in their own boards?
Drifloon!
Why the fuck are scientists fucking around in the sea instead of doing something useful like curing cancer
Fasting cures cancer.
Is this bait?
Cure to cancer is at the bottom of the ocean silly.
People tend to to whatever tf they want.
There are different kinds of scientists.
Also, if the cure for cancer was ever created, it would only be available to the rich.
Sure drop these marine biologists in a pharmaceutical lab i'm sure they can do something!
i like fish
i dont
Is that what Steve Jobs tried to do? And look where that got him.
Makes me wanna coom, ngl
>he doesn't know about anti cancer compounds found in weird organisms in weird places
>he doesn't know about the sheer amount of different cancers and there is no singular "cure for cancer"
Because driving around in a ship and discovering new species, even with the cataloguing and all that shit, is much more exciting than pipetting stuff together, throwing it on a 70 year old cancer, getting a few percent of gene expression difference and then running an awful lot of statistics on those results all the while the people giving you money are breathing down your neck expecting results you can't influence.
It's a way for us to become titans
american education at work right here...
It's the same glowing ballon that you find in the bottom of the ocean but with two strings added.
Why the fuck would you celebrate for finding the same shit but with a single difference?
I miss deep sea threads.
...
Because shitposters don't open these threads.
This is your brain in Murricans
He also ate a lots of fruits and drank fruit juices. Cancer loves high carb diets
It's one of the imageboard axioms:
The probability for a thread to have a serious discussion is higher if the discussion is off-topic (be it thread or board).
Someone can probably formulate that more elegantly, but I hope you get the gist.
I can't wait until marine biologists find something irregular and horrible in in the abyss, and we end up having to deal with whatever monstrosity gets definitively caught on camera with no explanation as to what the fuck we saw for literal decades.
On an unrelated board, the shitposters don't usually have enough knowledge by osmosis to pretend they know anything about the topic at hand, so they can't fit in and often don't even know what to shitpost about.
They just are.
Does the sight of it cause irreparable damage to the human psyche?
I sell fish for a living.
Maybe. Imagine if we found, like, ningen or something. Or if trunko turns out to not be a whale carcass... or a living whale, or anything like anything we've known to exist.
>You sell fish..
The fact we can even explore the ocean depths to begin with is, quite frankly, amazing. We know more about space than we do the ocean depths on the planet we've inhabited for thousands of years. Yeah it's basically just another variation of jellyfish, but it's still a new scientific discovery regardless.
>dude why are scientists using their knowledge to explore unknown areas of the world possibly discovering new breakthroughs that could lead to a cure for cancer instead of directly curing cancer through magic
Well, dead ones that I fillet.
fuck you
If this thread were on /an/ it would be full of autists spamming pitbull memes
weird how they can just "find" new animals despite how humans have "supposedly" been around for tens of thousands of years according to evolution. almost like humans havent had as much time to explore the world as they tell us. and who can say these animals even exist at all when theyre the only ones whove seen them?
People are usually more invested on a topic for what they're really into so they tend to get heated about it. Other off topic stuff is more of an interest in something in comparison so they are able to talk about it with more of a level head.
