>beat hades
>game pulls out a health check and hits me for 100 instant damage
>die and lose
alright, I can see why some anons call this game bad now.
Beat hades
It isn't "bad", it's just mediocre and extremely overrated. I really don't understand all the praise it's getting.
I love Meg...
>I really don't understand all the praise it's getting.
It's getting so much praise because it's fun, the art is really nice, the music is fantastic, and the writing is incredible.
And most importantly, unless you're brain dead, you can beat it.
When does that ever happen?
I beat the game already and never had anything like that happen
Noobie intro
It's fun enough to play but you definitely shouldn't pay for it since they spit on Greeks with faggot and nigger propaganda.
It's designed to be grindy and random-drops instead of a proper ability-tree means whether you have amazing synergy or a choice between 3 types of trash is up to chance.
nice advice
>spear's easiest starting weapon to win with, daedelus upgrade lets you hit full-screen
>Dionyseus over everything. Stack that dps, stun enemies, damage resistance, bonus health.
>Artemis combos well with sword, crit damage * backstab bonus item's huge
>get you a reflect. Either on-hit, on-dodge, or her call. In any case greatly increases survivability and can punish enemies.
>if ur able to get Aphrodite early, and re-roll to force her life-up bonus, u can greet bosses with enough spare health you don't even need your stubborn defiance
>bonus (boss) damage is better than bonus health, you are not going to out-tank a boss but doing 20-40%+ more harm is equivalent to reducing his health bar by a fifth to half
>get you a god gauge, preferably Aphrodite. God gauge is a bigger affect than anything else and with the proper build, can fill so quick it becomese like a regular attack. Aphrodite's does the most damage, cutting boss-fights short
>chaos over everything. The raw damage buffs of chaos are worth more than many boons, especially at their higher value-tiers.
>synergize to winnergize. Focus on a build and commit to it the whole run. This should be obvious but some modifiers will stack in ways which completely change the combat dynamic to your advantage. Others will actually disrupt one another, making a gimped build. You can't un-equip some of the bad choices so if it doesn't fit your build, don't take it.
>Faggot propaganda
>greek gods
>Greeks white
>Greeks not fags
It's not grindy at all until you hit 30+ in post game and it gives you nothing but a sense of accomplishment as you have everything already by that point.
>I really don't understand all the praise it's getting.
Narrative fags.
I think OP's thinking about that wave Hades sends out when he starts the second round against him.
You know, the wave that can easily be dodged and you know is coming once you've seen it a single time.
>health check
What on earth are you talking about? None of Hades' attacks are undodgable; unless this is some Extreme Measures shit I don't know about.
>beat hades
>game pulls out a health check
Clearly you didn't beat Hades then. Protip: He uses Death Defiance too.
So basically every Supergiant game.
I will give them credit in being able to take a really basic concept and make a really nice polished experience.
But Supergiant very much knows that the majority of their audience are casuals.
So once they have the core gameplay smooth, they just focus everything into art and narrative and milk the fuck out of it with merchandise.
>health check
You mean the incredibly obvious wave he sends out at the start of his second phase?
>merchandise
I severely doubt merchandise for their games makes up any substantial amount of profits for their games
When is best girl getting a romance line?
game is a shitty visual novel disguised as an even shittier rogue lite. if you like the story then go wild, but the rogue lite gameplay is terrible
>literally the same enemies and bosses every time
>only 4 "worlds"
>not enough variety of powers
>lazy attempt at "mixing it up" with heat system
>unlocked pretty much everything after 3 wins
>play enough runs and you cant distinguish 1st run from 50th run
play a better rogue lite if you only care about that aspect
How can I kill the 2 colosseum fags faster? I can kill the other bosses including Hades in a reasonable amount of time but they always take forever to die.
There is multiple versions of each boss.
All roguelikes have emphasize on repetition, I thought roguefags liked that.
>thinking there are any "health check" attacks in this action rogue-like
You can dodge literally every attack in the game user. Git Gud.
>some contrarian zoomerfaggot's hot take
Thanks! This is worthless!
My latest attempt, almost got out, but I didn't expect the new vases Hades summons to set off the old ones, that's what got me.
>>unlocked pretty much everything after 3 wins
40 hours*
>implying anyone beats the game in under 20 hours of playtime
In his defense, those waves can overlap pretty easily, I've taken tons of damage trying to evade one and landing in another.
If Hades is still attacking you, then you didn't beat shit. Nerd.
Asterius can get burned down relatively fast with doom damage or other boosted attack damage, as long as you can keep dodging back and forth under him to avoid his jumps.
Theseus is an asshole and his shield sucks. Artemis' cast/call can hit around it, but the easiest strat for him is to get him down to half health so he does his big call and hit him with aphrodite's charm call. HIS call will target him and do a fuckload of damage.
Chill or charm can also make the fight easier by making them easier to dodge and breaking them out of their defensive stances.
I usually run to the bottom right at the start and fight asterius away from theseus, so I don't have to deal with his shit.
those waves only even happen if you let the skull bombs go off.
>HIS call will target him and do a fuckload of damage.
Oh fuck, I should keep that in mind, that sounds fucking tasty.
Aphrodite's call is top tier specifically because I can kill my dad by shooting a giant pink heart at him
am i wrong or do you have demeter, the rest of the weapon variants, and the remaining enemies available by your 3rd hades kill? the only gameplay-affecting thing after iirc is the underwhelming pets
also, i see the argument of taking 20 hours to get the 10 hades kills. but if you mean it took you 20 hours to get the first hades kill, just never play a roguelite again
Hades has exactly the same moves you do
You clearly don't know anything about the Greeks lol
