was it good?
QUICK BEFORE THE DUST SETTLES
The floor hazards were retarded and your punch doing no damage was dumb but apart from that it was great
When I put the game in it told me to sign in to something so I returned it instead.
yeah, shitters got filtered and cried
Yes
Yeah, very. Probably my favorite game of this year, though admittedly, that doesn't really mean much considering what even came out.
it was okay, 6/10
yes
Yes. Absolutely. It's only truly shit negative was Denuvo but that was removed literally a WEEK after implementing it. It's a masterpiece. Don't let retards tell you otherwise.
It's ok
Music is just toilet sounds with doomguy taking a massive shit
My favorite game of the year. People who say you 'have' to play it a certain way are just parroting what they read online and clearly have not logged any hours in it
level design is phoned in for the last leg of the game and the structure feels patchworked together seeing as they had some badass introductory sequence for you getting a weapon you already had
You can tell they cut a bunch of content from the game. I think the final product is good and fun but there's almost no cohesion and some weapons are just straight-up worthless
yes
imagine getting filtered by a toddler level "green/red light" mechanic
2016 was better
blood punch is overlooked on your first (few) playthroughs, at least in my experience, but yes. melee was kind of designed to idiot proof the game from people spamming it in a panic.
Is eternal really that much better than 2016?
kek
didn't see the brutal doom edit before but kek. needs an H-doom coomer edit too.
if you're good at fps and playing on PC, yes. Eternal is everything fun about 2016 made better.
Yes, it was probably my GOTY, but I had a few little niggles.
Less platforming sections would be nice, though i don't know what they'd replace them with
Only the gladiator boss was good, the other 2 kinda fucking sucked, especially compared to 2016
Story was dumb, which I suppose was intentional, but took itself too seriously for my liking. At least cutscenes are skippable now though.
Atmosphere wasn't as oppressive as 2016, but again maybe that was intentional.
Needed more levels set in hell imo. I get it's "hell on earth", but Necropolis felt like the only level that gave me the hellish vibe of 2016's levels.
Other than that, an improvement over 2016 in about every way.
i have 180 hours played on doom2016 - even if its not a true doom game or whatever it's still a really good time. it looks goods, it plays good, it runs good.
i have 25 hours on eternal, 25 hours of trying over and over to get into this game and appreciate it for whatever the fuck it is.
it looks worse than 2016, it runs worse than 2016, the music is objectively worse.
i'll probably redownload it this week and try again because i'm probably wrong and its a great game, but usually just wish i was playing 2016.2
>but usually just wish i was playing 2016.2
Play through it once and then play with the infinite ammo cheat on every run afterwards. Bam, you have 2016 2
Yes. Zig Forums just bitches because it likes to pretend it's full of hardcore gamers, but if you spend enough time here or actually, god forbid, play a game with Zig Forums, you'll realize 90% of the board are straight shitters. This game filtered a large portion of the board.
which difficulty should i playthrough it on ? nightmare or ultra ?
Nightmare if you've played 2016 and have a good idea what you're getting into
Or, do the first level on UV and then switch to Nightmare on level 2, since that's when you unlock the dash (which is pretty necessary, don't know why it isn't unlocked immediately)
I did my first playthrough on Nightmare and it was tough, but not impossible. But there's no shame in turning it down if it gets too hard. I think there were one or two instances where it was just too much and I had to drop it to UV. But it's one of those games that by the second playthrough Nightmare felt like a breeze. Having all the weapons and upgrades certainly didn't hurt, but it was more about understanding the mechanics and being fluent with the gameplay loop. Even the later levels where I had everything the first time felt massively easier. Parts where I died repeatedly on the first run, I made it through on the first try. It really is a game about learning and mastery.
Best fps of the year and my personal goty.
Doom 2016 was fucking fantastic
Doom Eternal does everything Doom 2016 did and then some
Theres no contest, Doom Eternal was amazing
You know I got the dlc through preordering and I haven't had the motivation to return to this game to do it
It was compelling enough to make me practice and beat meme-mode on my own without looking up tips/videos, so I'd say it was very good.
