There were always an equal amount of Makoto haters.
But to answer your question, I think its because all the annefags, Makotofags, and Kawakamifags all moved on, leaving HaruCHADs the chance to finally have a voice without being drowned out by all the other characters.
I also think the extra semester in Royal gave people more time to actually complete Haru's social link, where they finally realized she was best girl.
