Game did an okay job of making Miles likeable and such although i don't think he comes even close to Peter in terms of intelligence, skill and responsibility like the game tries to make you think. Also doesn't make sense that Peter basically trusts Miles to stop the city from being blown up even though he had only been Spider-man on his own for a few days.

the game miles was way more of a fuckup than the movie miles. He spends a lot of the game just making everything worse
it's sorta weird given his massive fuckup at the beginning of the game peter would then immediately say hey, you're on your own and I trust you

Gameplay wise, yeah, he's clearly better. All of the combo that you can do with his venom (the electic attacks) were great, and added a lot of variety.
It also work in traversal, wich is a neat idea, and the expansion of tricks you can do in the air was great.
But for the story, it was'nt that bad but meh. I mean, Insomniac didn't try to make you guess wich characters were the bad-ones, and their secret identity is revealed in the next 10min.
By that I mean, they expect everyone who played saw Into the Spiderverse, so when you met Aaron Davis, you already know that the Prowler isn't far behind. And they show him like what, 30min-45min later in the game ?
I like this approach to the medium. They don't take you for a retard, they go just to the point.
Unlike Arkham Knight with all the "MMMH WHO'S THAT MYSTERIOUS CHARACTER WHO USES GUN, KNOWS BATMAN AND HIS PAST. What ? A Jason Todd flashback ? Mmh. Must be for nothing." thing.
Still, the story wasn't that great for Miles Morales, nobody gave a fuck about Phin and his relationship with Miles, same thing with Roxxon, which is clearly thrown out the window.
The only great character is Rhino. He's awesome.
