Part lottery because it's internet fame, but there are other factors as well.

Been doing it for a long time, originally started out with very popular achievement/mount guides which were in-depth for the more complicated ones.

He's very similar in appearance, attitude, and mentality to a lot of WoW fans so they latch onto him. It's partly friend simulator for a lot of his fans. His knowledge of the games history and lore is very in-depth as well which helps.

His ignorance, he justifies all the bad decisions in his life with his own made up bullshit and this appeals to your average neet sperg viewer.

I’m very similar to him in that I don’t care about material possessions, and just get by with a computer, etc.

I earn $60k (after tax) and I invest $40k every year, so I live on an income of $20k easily because I live frugally very easily.

I can imagine he is investing like $millions in the same way I am and living frugally in similar fashion with a small % or his actual income.
