should be ok for now, assuming you're not a retard and you actually overclocked it

Mines at 4.7 and it doesn't really matter anyway since cpu limited games are so rare when playing at 1440p even with q 2080ti

My man. I will never understand skimping on a processor when upgrading has like a 50% chance of requiring a new mobo and a top tier processor will last you like ten years.

If you remove the IHS to lap the die and apply good thermal paste to it you basically have a 10 series CPU

That's all Intel did.
9000 series soldered the IHS
10 series lapped the die

I'm on an i5. I'm not holding up well.

Did you a hair of the dog?

9700k here
easy 5ghz on all cores, no problems

For me, it's the 4790k

I'm on a i5 and it might be cause I'm new to the pc gaming space but I'd say I'm pretty good/happy with what I got. Hope it holds out a few more years at least

*Laughs in Ryzen*

i7-900k
Perfectly fine desu.

I have i9. But what happened with i7?

You ok dude? Looks like you made some nice smoked salmon in there.

Nothing, just some faggot farming OH NO NO NO's. If you have a higher end i7 (asusming 8 cores) then you can run practically anything an i9 or a 10 series can with minimal difference.

8700k on 5ghz noctua cooler since 2017

>all the ryzen 5000s out of stock except scalpers
Incompetence at its finest

still using a 6700k at 4.6, and so far haven't had any trouble. I'm sure this gen will be rough for it, though.

You won't be able to buy a new CPU/GPU/PS5/XSX until the new year.

>5 ghz with 1.35v core

Running fine at 4.8 Ghz.
I'm considering a 5900x, but will probably wait for new gen next year and DDR5.

>i7 4790k
I think there has been like 5 - 10 games I've played over the last 5 years that have gotten close to max'ing my CPU at 1080p.

Gonna be more than fine for another 2 years.

Never seen that before, nice and tight compact case.

>tfw 5 year old i5 6600k 3.5 GHz

>want to upgrade but my motherboard isn't compatible with most new modern good CPU so I need a new one and too lazy to upgrade

>i7-9700k
>GTX 1080

Upgraded some of my build recently. Is it worth getting either 2070 or 2080? I only play 1080p 144hz and the only demanding games I have are GTA V, Squad, beam.ng and Battlefield 4. Might get VR just for HL Alyx too.

a 2080 for 1080p is overkill, wouldn't bother.
For VR though a 2060 or above would be preferable

perfectly fine for now. running at 4.9 ghz for 1440p 165hz

Sounds good. I'll probably just opt for the 2070 once I play enough new shit to justify the purchase.

I play at more than 1080p so CPU doesn't matter.
>t. i7 8700

4770k+1070 on their last breath. I'm getting a Ryzen with 3070/3080/3090 in the next couple months. Depends on the Vram of the upcoming gpus, 10GB is too few but 24 Is overkill
