How come everybody hated it?
How come everybody hated it?
Goo goo baby and girl instead of Diddy and DK
>bad, almost non-existent ost
>ugly graphics
>bad, lazy enemy designs
>tedious level design
>pointless overworld to pad out time
Some of the bosses were kind of neat and the half-water/half-normal levels are slightly unique.
Started feeling like they were running out of ideas and the levels were getting stale.
I don't think anybody hates it besides Zig Forums
It's not a bad game in the slightest in fact it's pretty great it just wasn't a big step forward like the previous ones it was just more of the same
>wanting to talk about snes games
There's an entire different board where people actually give a fuck, you know.
Beats me. I think people just hated Kiddy. 3 is my favorite of the trilogy.

Fuck you, it counts.
dont you have a vtuber to be throwing money away to, lil zoom?
My only reason is the absence of David Wise.
Stupid reason, I know. I'll get around to playing it someday but that's my only deterrent.
It's my favorite most the sheep on here hate it because they hate anything different than standard kong platforming and autism for not having kiddy be dk
I had 1 and 2 on the SNES and 3 on the GBA growing up. It's so weird learning years later that the GBA soundtrack is completely different from the original, especially when the GBA OST is so much better.
I love 3 actually. 2 is my fav and I like 1 the least but still think it is a really good game.
The only reason they made kiddy is because dk holds the barrel above his head
>Started feeling like they were running out of ideas
I'd say maybe the third mine level in DKC1 already made this clear.
Made by Rare's B team and it fucking shows
Ugly baby
Set in Canada
Composer sounds like they were phoning it in even though they weren't
Yeah you may be right
Same reason they hated Yoshi's Island at the time, babies remind children they are children and that makes them upset.
There is NOTHING wrong with Kiddy I liked that Dixie had the whole big sister vibe going with the dynamic.
i dont. i think its fun. kiddie kong is based, skipping water is kino.
that said i need to play it and 2 a few more times to really get a feel for them.
you have zero evidence to support that baseless claim
Too many gimmick levels. It's still good though.
>bad, almost non-existent ost
The forest theme was haunting
Rare just liked making new characters. Same reason they made Tiny and Chunky instead of using Dixie and Kiddy.
I loved it because it was my first DK game. I played the other 2 and I still prefer 3
because they had to follow up from the greatness of DKC2. Pretty much anything was going to look bad by comparison
On its own (lack of) merits though, a number of things. Level design took a big step back. Less variety of level types, less interesting levels themselves. A shoehorned overworld fetch quest thing. Game overall just looked ugly and the art direction felt pretty uninspired. Soundtrack was poor.
Tons of small details about the game also fell completely flat. The two animal buddies they introduced were an active hindrance. Any buddy you got previously was a fun moment with new traversal possibilities, in DKC3 you hated when you had to play the new ones. Bear NPCs were boring and entirely unnecessary additions. Simon says mini game.
Kiddy Kong, mechanically speaking, was designed well and fun to play. I don't personally hate him but I imagine a lot of people didn't like the baby / childish aspect of it. This part was definitely overblown.
Apart from a few cool levels near the end, nothing really stood out as amazing. It's still pretty fun but pales in comparison to its predecessors
>GBA
Not even remotely helping your argument, dumbass
I enjoyed it despite the flaws. More stinker levels than in 1 or 2 but that didn't discredit some of the genuine marvels that the game has to offer. Water and canyon levels were absolutely killer in every sense imaginable and a lot of the other levels were still genuinely unique in the ideas behind them. Only real problem is that there's less of the good stuff than 1 and 2 and it's all hidden behind a somewhat clunky overworld to navigate. All around still a great entry and miles better than NU DKC
It was my first DK game, too. 2 is a masterpiece, though. I would say 3 is a lot better than 1, though. 1 has nothing really going for it other than music and atmosphere. It didn't age very well.
that's actually a fair assessment. DKC1 did not age well; I remember going back to play it and it felt like a slog. For it's time it was great obviously but now it just feels primitive and way too unpolished. I suppose I just remember it fondly whenever I hear the OST
Thank you. I'm sick of this board acting like TF is the second coming just because it's hard. It completely misses the DKC feel.
