liking things i think i don't like or are too popular

Someone that plays stuff they don't like, especially stuff that is easy.

owns a switch
buys loads of games but only plays them for 10 hours tops
always excited to tell you about the next game they're going to buy

buying western AAA games at launch and buying the yearly CoD, FIFA, and NBA2K

Does not acknowledge the fact that Halo 2 is the only good video game ever created.

Real gamers uh, yeah uh fucken who cares?

Someone who doesn't have a gaymer partner to gayme with.

Someone I don't like

Zig Forums poster.

Someone who plays the same 1-3 games all the time and refuses to branch out to other genres

They actually have a career, social life, relationships and hobbies that dont include videogames to invest time in. They most likely go weeks if not months without playing a game; occasionally playing the one big release of playing a quick one a friend's party.

Preorders games and taste in game is dicated by marketing. Falls for the hype every time.

Somebody who doesn't stress about what games they play or if a game they have goes unplayed

Accurate.

Under 30 games completed
Owns a ps4
Likes "cinematic" movie games
100+ unplayed steam games

>Casual
Plays mostly mobile games and otherwise easy PC games
>Core
Plays only a small selection of the most mainstream games
>Hardcore
Plays many different games including more niche ones and also plays for much longer

Players who will say that they enjoy playing games, but would not say that it is their primary hobby or that they care about games beyond something to occasionally spend time on, akin to watching TV. There is little to no qualitative distinction between gaming and consuming other entertainment for them, and they have essentially no interest in the industry or games in themselves.

Left one is Devil`s curliest hair

>Players who will say that they enjoy playing games
this is enough

>Only interested in their one normie game.
>They invite you to play their game and refuse to play your games.
>They feel the need to describe basic knowledge to you: "See, its called a battle royale..."
>They refuse to play any game alone. They can only play when someone parties with them or voice chats on Discord.
>They're somehow shit at the one game they play.
>They backseat gaming you when observing. "No! Do this instead!"
>

I have no idea what movies or music is coming out, or what the industry is doing. this is why i'm casual. Games I have an idea of everything that is going on.

Subhuman.

Only owns FIFA, cod, and Spiderman

people who claim to play video games but do not actually play video games

You only casually say nigger

Someone who regurgitates opinions rather than forming their own

Person who plays any games published by EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo or Blizzard.

they don't play competitive shaq-fu

Buying games and never finishing them because of growing backlog.
Never finishing the backlog.
Basically just consumes every new product to donate money to the company

anyone who plays vidya as just a pastime rather than a hobby, the cod/fifa kids, in essence, but it's honestly a worthless distinction when a game like Dark Souls, an undeniably "hardcore" experience, is wildly popular across all groups of people who play video games

People who only "game" to kill time between different normalfag activities.

You just know.

>but it's honestly a worthless distinction when a game like Dark Souls, an undeniably "hardcore" experience, is wildly popular across all groups of people who play video games
aw, c'mon man, the hardcores really want to make themselves feel like they have big pee pees.

Zig Forums may be fucking retarded, but most of us have at least some grasp of the history of gaming, and can tell you about the output of different companies and what said companies have tended to do over time. Even if you aren't interested in very many specifics like following every rumor or release, you have at least some understanding of what companies you like or dislike and why or why not, and have enough working knowledge of how to get information about game history, the industry and releases to find more games that you like that have come out in the past or present or will be coming out in the future. Casuals lack and don't care to gain that literacy, as their interest in games will be mostly served by whatever ends up in front of them through advertising and what's on the store shelves.

Dark souls is very niche in the grand theft auto scheme of things.

>people who only play hyped, heavily-advertised AAA games
>people who suck at competitive games for whatever reasons
>people who take up the hobby for the social aspects
>people who don't know of anything from the past and refuse to learn or even acknowledge it
>1st person shooters on console

i also just want to mention that last gen was the "reset" in the audience for games.
after many years of a constant string of superhero movies, newly-turned nerds now needed video game systems to latch onto to futher their nerd cred.
this nerd trend was just booming around the time of last gens' consoles' reveal and releases and sony capitalized because MS botched their own conference.
HOWEVER, MS won in terms of influence across the industry. they finalized their main business strategy for casuals and unknowing people with 360 and everyone wanted easy cash like how MS was doing it

the how:
casuals are retarded. big companies found that they can just consistently charge to play online and the money almost comea out of nowhere. for both consoles, the best selling games were AAA 3rd party multiplayer games that require a paid sub (only 5-6 of sony's exclusives made top 20 global PS4 sales, and they were on the latter end of that list).
sony, after watching them for years, followed along with paid subs as their main business strategy for their overwhelming fanbase of casuals and newcomers who know nothing of what came before and know of nothing in general, really.
you don't know how badly sony wants to cut money from making exclusives because of this, but retarded casuals cry about exclusives they barely buy and sony have to keep quickly making them and throw them out at a quick pace

a good video game industry ended with the arrival of the first xbox because it gave big companies the idea to charge to play online -- and make this very practice their main business strategy. then gamergate reset the whole target audience to casuals and idiots
