As long as you're aware of the main points of FF7 that are common knowledge through cultural osmosis, you should be fine to play Remake. If you want to play the original game, I highly recommend . FF7 has aged like milk, but experiencing the story firsthand is probably good in the long run for when the rest of the Remake games come out
