Can you be a fan of a game if you just watched it on JewTube?
Can you be a fan of a game if you just watched it on JewTube?
no faggot. if you're such a fan then play the damn game
Yes.
Fuck off racist
If it's a sony game, yes
if the story is a major component of the game sure
a lot of Zig Forums are fans of warhammer, yet have never actually played it
No, but I can if I watch it on YouTube
So does sportsball logic apply to video games? That you can be a fan if you only ever watched it on TV?
you can do whatever you want
others can judge and condemn you accordingly
Sure just don't cry when people call you tertiary
sure, but your opinions are worthless
of course you can, gatekeeping storytelling is fucking dumb. tarn adams even calls people who watch lets plays of dort on youtube the real players, and the people making the videos beta testers / playmakers
I don't get the desire to be called a fan, why not just play the game if you like it so much?
When I watch someone play/watch videos a game that ends up appealing to me I just go play instead, If I can't I put it aside until I can. Why would I waste the first experience of playing a game I will likely like? I don't go around parading how much I love it and getting into discussions about things I didn't play.
YOURE NOT TRUE FAN XD
fuck teen threads
I don't remember how it came into the conversation but once the friends of my sister came in our house and started saying how they were gamers and that kind of thing, they loved Undertale and Walking Dead game, they were talking about Sans fight but turns out they just had watched full gameplays from youtubers on both of those games.
Who would call themselves a fan of something? Seems like stating you're part of a cult.
gatekeeping is vital to the wellbeing of any group
>any group
THIS FUCK NOT TRUE FANS XD
I BET THEY IN EMO GROUP TOO
yes but you will never have the genuine experience of play and discovery.
all you will have is a paste grey recollection of the videos youve seen.
I mean, nothing wrong with watching a gameplay, and you can be a fan of the game's content just by watching it/reading it/knowing about it's existence.
The main reason why people oppose letting everyone be considered a fan is because a watcher can't grasp how mechanics work, how responsive controls are, different paths etc.
It's like a kid playing basketball without knowing how to bounce the ball and with a lowered rim so that he can reach it. He might be a basketball fan, but it would be ridiculous to put him on the same level as your average basketball player.
It was never about being considered a fan, it's more about pretending two things are equal when they are clearly not.
>calls people who watch lets plays of dort on youtube the real players
sounds like a way to just placate an audience
You can do it with Persona 3 because Persona 3 might be the worst turn based JRPG of all time in terms of gameplay.
There exists no other turn based JRPG in existence where you can't control your party members in combat. Persona 3 is legitimately the only one and it feel terrible to play.
Should you play P4 and P5? Absolutely. Can you get away with not playing P3? Yes, because the game itself is shit. I would even say that Persona 1 and 2 have better gameplay than 3 because at least you can choose what every party member does during battles, even if the encounter rate is fucking bonkers.
Play the PSP version if it bothers you so much, retard.
Wouldn't you want to play it if you're a fan?
>There exists no other turn based JRPG in existence where you can't control your party members in combat.
Dragon Quest III
You can be a fan of the story or music or lore of a game, but you have zero say in discussions of gameplay
Fug, I meant DQ IV
Persona is a visual novel with a mediocre jrpg attached so yeah I mean it's fine honestly, if you watched the whole thing top to bottom. I know Persona secondaries on twitter are cringe but the cringe is innate, it's not because they watched the game on youtube. Avatarfagging and defining yourself by a game you didn't play is pretty gay though.
No you can't. Games are interractive, if you don't experience that by yourself you havent experienced the game, period. Watching some faggot die from a random mudo skill is not the same as getting fucked by a random instakill youself. There is a crucial element of player agency and intimity that's just missing.
Depends on the genre. If it's a turn-based game or VN or any of that gay shit, then sure. It's not like there's much difference between watching and playing them.
