Because they've been socialized by TV (catchall term for pop media, no point in listing it all) and are convinced that if something isn't a quirky sitcom moment or loud drama moment then it's not really living. I think. But yeah, it kinda forces people to act as caricatures of humans, ie, the curated versions of people that you see in scripted entertainment. Life imitates art, and all they take in is pop art.

Pretty problematic. Especially anime girls.

No, I prefer to say TV despite the fact that TV is largely irrelevant as a form of pop media itself. It's like a filter for people who can't or won't get the point and instead have to hone in on a synonym that doesn't fit their prescribed frame of reference and it makes them angry, which is funny to me.

It's fine in moderation but what I absolutely hate in games is sex scenes and romances in general. Not in principle, but because they are ALWAYS shit quality while at the same time sucking out a lot of time and resources from development that could have been better spent.
No game was ever made better by romance or sex scenes.
