It's certainly irritating behaviour that provides no real economic value. However, this is true of many activities, few of which are illegal. I haven't seen any compelling argument that scalping should be a crime.

tickets to events are a one-time opportunity for people, and the supply will be limited artificially by how many people the venue can accommodate. Scalping PS5's is simply the free market response to Sony's inability to catch up with the demand, it's pretty sad they don't have the infrastructure to cater to the massive demand they've spent billions to build up through marketing.

I live in BC and just sold one yesterday for $1000 flat to a white male. Took a few weeks because I refused to sell it to anyone but a white man in his 30’s.
