Fast
it's honestly one of the greatest indie games ever created
and as bonus points: it's 100% drama or agenda free
It's ______________________________________fun
really good. frustrating rng bullshit but thats rougelikes in general. the soundtrack is top tier, cool alien races, tons of different unlockable ships, interesting strategy involved. very hard too, took me a while to be able to beat game even on easy.
The same people also made this other game Into the Breach which was very good too but fairly different gameplay wise
It's fantastic, one of the best games of the last decade. I just wish the flagship fight didn't bottleneck builds so much. Has a lot of potential for a sequel, doubt it'll happen though.
Alright just bought it, thanks frens
been on an indie binge lately and it feels like coming back home, finally playing actual video games with gameplay
one of the best video games ever made and I 100% mean that
>frustrating rng bullshit
Keep in mind that the longer you play the less this is true and that there are people who have streamd themselves winning 50+ games in a row using every ship on hard mode
it's not nearly as much of a bottleneck as some people think
cloaking is absolutely not necessary for example
go get em champ, enjoy
One of the few games who did roguelike well.
Its hard, and thats good. Don't play easy mode like a bitch, normal or hard ftw. Also one of my favorite final bosses in a videogame
Very fun if you like unlocking stuff. The various ships and different layouts add a lot of replayability.
Just so you know OP, once you finish playing through the base game, there's a ton of great content mods out there that you should try. My favorites are Captain's Edition and the infinite addon. You can find a bunch of them here. subsetgames.com
The funny thing is that this is the first time I've ever played a mod pack that was basically future proof. Even though the game has had multiple updates since inception, the mods still work like a charm. So I'd give them a shot once you've indulged in the base game.
If you see a flak gun in a shop GRAB THAT SHIT.
Overrated
Extremely luck based when it comes to what encounters you get.
Forgot to mention that their next game Into the Breach is vastly better. Much less luck based, and combing different types of mechs is fun.
>frustrating rng bullshit
Ignore this part OP. Anyone good enough can beat the game with any ship, on any difficulty.
second best roguel*** of all time behind binding of isaac
most ships I'd agree
but stealth C is a god damn piece of shit
Fun but it can be bullshit sometimes
>Extremely luck based
Not at all with enough skill one has a good chance to win which is how it should be.
Into the Breach becomes to easy after figuring it out.
Stealth C can get beat up easily by some ships before you get shields but you can always run before you die.
If you have the time search for FTL pauseless win streaks. Literally every run is winnable.
It's fantastic.
I sincerely doubt it with stealth C
if you're running away you don't get enough scrap on hard mode to afford shields
Doubt it all you want. Running from one ship isn't enough of a setback to kill a run. If you're smart enough with scrap management and sector exploration, every run is winnable. Hacking is also incredibly OP.
It's pretty good, but it gets repetitive after a while, because of how linear it is. They really should have added some different paths or scenarios, and given the final boss some variety. Finishing the game becomes really anticlimactic, given how boring it is fighting the same boss every time.
It can also be frustrating trying to get new ships, because of how rare and RNG based some of the events are.
its fun
Into the Breach is very good as well. It feels a lot like playing chess, but with more complicated pieces and varied chessboards.
sacrifice a goat to rngods and you are done
i got rekt obviously
Into The Breach was a neutered game. They left out a ton of features, and never even bothered to give it a proper expansion.
ItB isn't nearly as good as FTL, but it's fine for what it is. Not everything needs to be endlessly replayable.
A game that's made to be replayable should be replayable, particularly when you consider the legacy of the devs.
In all fairness, they had a really high note to live up to. It would be like the devs behind Terraria releasing a game that's okay, but people are so used to Terraria that it would be a disappointment no matter what.
Easy mode is too easy, normal mode is too hard.
