Why do translators feel the need to completely change things as they see fit?

Why do translators feel the need to completely change things as they see fit?
Is it really that hard to just fucking translate something correctly?

A piece of the story may or may not be missing. Consider the battles translators and localisation teams may have in regards to such things as Age Rating, or specific groups having been noticed in such a way that higher ups expect of you to avoid certain subjects.
I'm not saying it IS the answer, but there could be more than just dodgy/bad translators.

??

Dumbass, they don't speak English in the JP version

Alternating an artists vision to fit your agenda is progressive though user!

I love Japanese games but you have to admit that 90% of their content is disgusting by western standards, I'm presonally happy that based localizers keep that degeneracy away and provide something more relatable

Localization vs translation.

>western media is automatically pozzed
>western localizers poz non-western media on localization
Time to take the /vr/pill I think.

Localization isn't changing the meaning of things

Can't wait until these roaches lose their jobs to automatic translation

>binaries
I don't get it, something to do with programming?

It's an allusion to the "gender binary" AKA male and female. The implication is that he crossdresses to defy some social notion. This is not present in the original text in the slightest.

I like to change shit when I do a translation just to piss off a poltard here and there. usually ill add a reference to trans people where there was none and then angry poltards fill up my twitter replies

I'm so tired of censorship...

the tranny cries out in pain as he strikes you

>Is it really that hard to just fucking translate something correctly?
It is, yeah. Many sentences when translated literally from Japanese into English sound disjointed or give off unintended implications/meanings. So what ends up happening is the translator needs to try and find a English language substitute phrase that fits both the meaning of the original phrase and the personality of the character, which is a pretty difficult task and sometimes impossible.
TL;DR translators are forced to make shit up, learn Japanese

5%

...of poltards killed themselves after losing

>he doesn't know

Then explain shit like OP where some random weeb on the internet can translate shit more accurately than a team of professional translators

>ラズワルド
>rasuwarudo
yeah stopped reading there
a real 出来ない post for real 出来ない people, might as well go post on /jp/

That's your fault for playing Fire Emblem

>>he doesn't know

>Is it really that hard to translate something correctly?
No, it isn't. The people who work on this shit are the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel, and this is the only thing left to them after a life of constant failures. The majority of them do this shit specifically to spite the people who will be playing the games, and are mentally ill.
Case in point.

I'm not saying all translators are equal, I'm saying you should do your reps.

>he _still_ thinks I'm a trumbie
This is sad, user.

>Then explain shit like OP where some random weeb on the internet can translate shit more accurately than a team of professional translators
Considering the OP is not posting the original JP script it's kinda hard to make a comparison.
But yes, bad translations happen, but a vast majority of so-called "bad translations" really aren't bad, it's people that are too dunning-kruger to realize why they are wrong. I see it all the time in Japanese learning communities, people who have been learning for a couple of months, not even N5 level, who think they know it all and it's quite funny. You can even see how slowly they change and start to realize how dumb they were as they become more and more comfortable with the language (those that don't drop out at least)

You don't do any of those things. What you do is make posts pretending to be someone you're not, pretending to support things you don't, all to get angry replies on this site. You hold no actual convictions of your own, your personality has been entirely overridden with "I will post inflamatory stuff to get (You)s". You are the logical endpoint of the Zig Forums contrarian, so contrarian you have looped back into being contrarian against the site's contrarianism.
I'll take my prefabricated low-effort response now, thanks.

trannylators are worse than regular trannies

i admire your vast originality in the face of adversity

>your personality has been entirely overridden with "I will post inflamatory stuff to get (You)s".
Honestly this is one of the worst developments on this site, Zig Forums has it the worst too

How do you know that it's not the japanese developer's intent to make her a lesbian or bisexual? Because Japan's culture is backwards and conservative it would be hard to express their true intent with the character.

Because she can't marry any girls in the game? Even the girl who's confirmed bisexual?

You know OP is just a shitter cause he didn't post a single lick of Japanese in his picture aside from names in katakana and he even managed to get them wrong (or whoever made that picture). It's just cheap bait.

>you don't do any of those things
pfffffffffffft AAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA ONONONONONON
