What drives people to donate to streamers?
Not judging, I waste money on worse stuff, I'm just genuinely curious about the social/psychological aspect of it. Like what do you ACTUALLY get for your money when you donate?
What drives people to donate to streamers?
showing support because they like it
>Not judging, I waste money on worse stuff
I don't understand this either.
I spend money on
>rent
>food, groceries
>alcohol in case friends come over (don't drink much otherwise)
>vidya (but I used to pirate a LOT up until I became an adult with a decent job)
>plane tickets to visit family/friends once every few months
and I literally save thousands of dollars of my paycheck every month. I actually struggle to come up with more shit to spend on (besides investing for long-term gains). I don't buy dumb novelties and literally can't think of what the fuck people do that their regular expenditure is so high.
because they are lonely nerds who don't have anyone meaningful in their lives so they trying to get respect from streamer and chat like a beta male they are. DO YOU SEE GIRLS DOING THIS? SURE NOT
>surrogate friendship
>unfulfilled natural desire to be a provider
>viewers are coerced into it by other people donating
pick your poison
>supporting someone that entertains you for hours on end daily
is there something wrong with that?
"Capitalism is evil bro damn why the fuck things cost money"
Same. If you have no kids and aren't married or divorced, you should have money. I work with a lot of guys who have roommates or no car. I don't get it.
for many donators its a method of coping same as blatant comsumerism. A lot of young men these days are completely aimless and suffer from anxiety so they seek comfort in being part of some community. Streamers use this to profit. The entire thing is dystopian as fuck
This. (((family))) is what gets you into debt and shortages
Also a desire to be acknowledged publicly. They want that thank you and they want other people to hear it.
If have kids and something breaks on them you can't just let it sit there for a while like a car. If they need pencils or braces or whatever you just have to do it right away. That adds up.
Alternatively there are people who go out every weekend and hundreds of dollars monthly on booze alone.
I've only ever donated to get omegaluls from chat
>Donate to get some attention online
lmao
Smaller streamers probably have a a regular job they work and then they do streaming on the side, if you want to stream more then the money from the stream needs to outweigh the money from regular job.
I don't get donating to massive streamers though
>Not wanting a cute girl to say your name
Why do you have to support people who entertain you?
I don't get donating to anyone. I've never had the urge to pay someone else's bills. It doesn't make any sense to me.
If you have money to spare and you are bored you can try find a new hobbie, Magic The Gathering, Warhammer... collecting something in general. If you want to.
Just don't spend it, let it rot. It's better idling on your account than in the pockets of these talentless hacks.
Because then they don't have to work and can entertain you more
But then YOU have to work to make up the money you're losing.
If you want to go further you can add:
>lives in large city even though moving 30 minutes to an hour away would halve his rent
simps are the downfall of the west. if a woman wants to live without working she should be obliged to suck cocks and offer her pusy
Funnily enough I feel the opposite way. As gay as it is giving money to someone who streams for a living makes more sense to me, since it's their main source of income and donating to them helps them continue to stream more. If it's just some guy doing it as a hobby what reason is there to give him money? So he can buy himself a Switch or whatever the fuck?
the chat is basically their only friends. its like sites that were created by Zig Forums users like brettygood com. People come in there everyday and talk about stuff. Difference is that twitch is built around donating while stuff like brettygood is just built around watching movies
they offer you a service (entertainment). You pay to maintain the service, if nobody donates the streamer has to search for another job and you can't enjoy the service
>what's the fun about watching streams?
idk man, let people enjoy whatever they enjoy
I watch Twitch. Very few streamers though and rarely a big one. I alternate my Amazon Prime sub between a few different channels since it doesn't cost me any extra money. If it didn't come with Prime I would never spend a single cent on a streamer. I have been gifted subs numerous times though. Like many times.
I'm only ever subbed to one streamer at a time, mostly so I can use the channel emotes in chat banter, but I never donate.
I'm actually subbed to like 4 right now, but those are all gifted subs, guess I'm lucky.
streamer here
people donated to my stream because me and a few other people put it back into the community by organizing events and stuff, like meetups or helping some people in shit situation that were community veterans, so people weren't really givving me the money but it was sort of a crowdfuning initiative with a stream behind it.
I also understand if you have a streamer that's doing some tedious shit like broadcasting/organizing tournaments for a really sspecific game and there's nothing else doing that and such, but why would people want to donate to fotm streamers or e-thots iss completely beyond me. you're better off hiring a hooker with that money.
I saw people posting in a twitch chat that simps are:
>a derogatory term people made who were jealous that they couldn't support a woman
That's the people who donate. People who honestly think that others are jealous of their "ability" to throw away their money on strangers
...He was proposing while already having a girlfriend? What a Chad.
I don't see the benefit of donating compared to watching for free. I have a twitch account since Justin tv and never once donated.
>if nobody donates the streamer has to search for another job and you can't enjoy the service
That's a bluff. Most streamers are unemployable.
They are kind of surrogate friends for some people and they do it because it makes them stand out
>i like thing
>i have money
>i will give thing money
ez
She had to move out of her "streamer house" because the guys who lived there were getting mad at all the guys she was bringing over.
im subbed to two channels
one because the dude has given literal thousands of hours of sleeping aid in the form of binding of isaac episodes
second because he is at a ideal timeslot keeping me sane from work
break arm once, in debt forever.
They are disposable. I'll just watch someone else
I remember being there for that shitshow
good times
I donated to a streamer $500 in subs (which they only got $250 of due to Amazon 50/50 everything( and when I said in a public twitter that I won't be gifting out any more subs the streamer banned me without warning.
>subbed to Moonmoon and Aris
For me it's the misguided belief that they'll use the money for hair transplants.
Im a tier 3 pokimane sub
AMA
why
Because she’s funny.
lol get fucked
There was a guy in a small 200 viewer stream I'd frequent who would donate massive amounts of subs. He was pretty much single handedly funding the streamer's job that he dropped out of college for. He started getting bullied in his DMs from people saying he was donating because he had no real friends. The guy stopped donating and now he rarely stops by the streams. I wonder how the streamer feels, kek.
