What exactly is the reason everyone loved this mediocre shit? Its almost as bad as LOK defiance

What exactly is the reason everyone loved this mediocre shit? Its almost as bad as LOK defiance

I just finished the whole series and i looked up some other peoples opinions on LOK as a series and everybody praises SR 1 when the game just doesn't deserve it
>trash gameplay
>Trash puzzles
>Like 10% of the whole thing is actually dialogue worth listening to and story telling the rest is above mentioned shit
>Inferior in absolutely every aspect to its successor, SR 2 and blood omen 1

i don't know but cool thread hating things.

wtf, everyone agrees the gameplay is janky shit.

You did emulate the Dreamcast version right? Don't tell me you played the PC port

dae le deified?

Its not about hating i am genuinely curious as to why everybody praised this game when it was a complete mediocrity in my eyes and the only reason it was any good was the story
Yes i played the dreamcast

>doesn't like puzzles
>plays a puzzle game

>everybody praises
>mediocre in my eyes

Yes, you’re the only one who’s correct.

I like how no one can refute this. OP is right.

What? That he, personally, didn’t like one of the best written/acted games in history DESPITE it being butchered in development? Can’t refute a terrible opinion. The vast majority seem to think otherwise. “I don’t like thing” is a pretty low effort argument.

It's because you have bad taste.

It's a game from 1999 dude, back then it was pretty great

I know, right? Fucking plebs

What's wrong with the PC port?

PC version doesn't have dynamic music and is effectively missing a lot of music as a result.

Dreamcast version > PS1 > PC

I was almost disappointed with defiance until the final sequence. Really beautifully executed how it culminated that way. Hit me in the feels.

To this day, I don't know how to cope with the fact that LoK is just gone. It's such a product of its time and it wasn't even finished.
Even if they'd, by some chance, scrape together whatever members of the teams are still alive and willing to work on vidya, it just wouldn't be good. The politics and mindset have changed way too much and it'd turn into a hasbeen fuckfest of trying to capture magic that's just gone.
Best we could hope for is a entirely new series from a team of people with a deep passion and love for LoK. Maybe one day.

>Inferior in absolutely every aspect to its successor, SR 2
There are people who actually believe this.

All thar soul reaver 1 was was moving cubes around, raziel killing his brothers and 3 dialogues worth listening to. An hour of blood omen had more content that this game.

You don't need to tell me about Blood Omen, I like that over Soul Reaver too.
But Soul Reaver 2 is trash. It's Soul Reaver with even less gameplay. There's nothing interesting about it beyond the forges.

> SR inferior to SR2
The fuck are you going on about?
SR2 explored the narrative a bit better, but the game itself was total garbage compared to SR. It's one of the few games I'd tell someone they can just watch on youtube and miss nothing of value compared to playing it.

I see how you might not like SR 2 and i can understand that one, but the one i literally cant wrap my head around is how would you like SR1 like... It lacked what this series does the best (what defiance lacked too)

Meaningful dialogue and monologue, actual story... The game was too long for how little of story it offered, to the reason why i liked SR 2 so much better was the fact that there was so much more story telling in comparison to games length

Atmosphere
Soul
OST

> Tfw you have to limit your framerate using external programs for the PC version of SR2 to work at all

Nice bait Zoomer.
LoK:SR was about as good as you could get graphically at the time and the gameplay was not considered bad at the time.
Puzzles are a little silly, but whatever it happens.

No. This is a stupid excuse. Blood omen was older and more interesting in regards to both aesthetics and gameplay Imo. Age is not an excuse. I played a lot of older titles far better than SR1 my point was that that game is overrated af.

I dont know, I had a demo discussion with it on it and played the demo a lot but never actually played the game.

>blood omen was better
Nope, edgyness and mindless action gameplay is not better.

Look I know you're mad, but I don't care.
You'll stay mad because your opinion is shit and obviously not the average opinion for people who played this game on release.

Blood omen is a 2D action rpg, while SR is a 3D action adventure game.
Personally I prefer SR, I didn't find Blood Omen's gameplay exciting, and the story had too much shit going on for the way it was presented.

So which was your favorite game?

>my point was that that game is overrated af

>Game is well known for being severely underrated so much so that the fucking company who made it lost money on the series trying their best to finish their passion project
>some random faggot on Zig Forums cries overrated when he clearly doesn't know what the definition of the word is

>and obviously not the average opinion for people who played this game on release.
Thanks for the tacit admission that boomers are stupid, I guess.

SR1's writing isn't that good or interesting and carried almost entirely by the VA performances.

Blood omen 1 was my rivaled by SR 2
>blood omen because of atmosphere (soundtrack and design) and dialogue / monologue
>Sr2 because of story telling, simply. Something defiance and sr1 lacked, the presentation of that great LOK story.

I'm a pcfag and always hated it. basically a trash version of the 3d zeldas. story is cool though
