Now that he dust has settled, how do we feel about it?
I restarted it in the hopes I'll feel more motivated to see it through this time.
I've tried to finish it multiple times now and have have yet to complete it. If a switch port comes I hope they either cut a lot of the motion controls and back tracking
I hate it but hate it less than I did in 2010. 6/10, still the worst 3D Zelda game [that includes BOTW]
I thought it was alright
It was amazing. People just don’t like it because they are too boomer to enjoy motion
Skyward Sword's responsive gameplay is comparable to Twilight Princess's color palette.
Like shit.
Worst 3D Zelda game, a lot of it felt by the numbers and Skyloft wasn't interesting enough to justify having the rest of the game world essentially empty.
I'd still play it though, a bad Zelda game is still alright by most game standards.
I liked it. Best Zelda design, desu.
It would have been solid without motion controls
It's not a bad game but it's easily the worst 3D zelda
I enjoyed the game every time I played it.
it was decent
>downsides:
>Fi is the blandest companion ever
>backtracking for song parts sucks. especially that half-assed stealth mission up the mountain
>having to fight that black godzilla not once. not twice. but THREE fucking times
>the skies are empty and boring. there aren't that many interesting places in the skies
>one glitch was so bad, it broke the game and nintendo had to patch it
>your shields break. they don't take damage if you block perfectly tho, and you can pay to repair your shield. but SS served as the test run for the shitty "durability" mechanic in BotW
>positives:
>relationship between Link and Zelda is heartwarming
>Groose grows into a likable bro
>even Ghirahim is a great new villain
>motion control gameplay wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. the MotionPlus peripheral made swinging the sword more interesting than past games. especially when the AI of enemies like moblins block your sword attacks more often, which made fights more interesting. perhaps the most kino part was when you swung that giant sword against that golden robot boss
>the impressionist cel-shaded artstyle aged pretty well. not as well as Wind Waker's cartoony artstyle, but miles better than Twilight Princess' realistic artstyle
Better than BotW and WW. The Lanayru region alone is worth a playthrough, though some great bosses and possibly the best item UI in a Zelda to date also help. I also didn't hate the motion controls. Even then, the game is still inconsistent as hell with some rather crippling lows.
It's good. My first Zelda, so it'll always have a special place in my heart. Ballad of the Goddess is amazing. That said, I think there's no denying that it has some problems.
WW = BOTW > OOT > MM > SS > TP
All are good, though.
I will literally never understand why people find issues with BOTW's durability mechanic, by the time you've cleared two beasts you should have so many decent weapons and slots that you'll never run out. If anything, it would be better if you weren't able to increase your slots
The constant menu showing up every time you get a crafting item and that blue annoying bitch plus having to center the controls every 5 mins almost make this game unplayable. Also it was short as fuck. Homeworld + 3 Explorable areas. Blurry ass backgrounds because LOL Wii graphics. The only saving grace was some innovative puzzles + decent story.
6/10.

Ok game in general. Worst Zelda game overall
Game sucks .
Never understood the massive amount of hate for it
I liked it but it's very flawed.
Could be propped up if it got the HD treatment on Switch and cut back on the handholding and some of the linearity in the later half, and had a traditional controller option
Based, best Zelda design indeed
Fight the same annoying boss like 3 times
Constant use of motion controls
Game drags towards the end. Should have been 10 hours shorter
6/10
Durability isn't a bad idea but the implementation is off and really only feels like an annoyance. It'd be a lot better if weapons were 3x less frequent, lasted 3x longer, and could perhaps be repaired in a pinch with quickly diminishing returns so by the time it's been repaired like 3 times it'll break in 2 fights anyways. The frequency could definitely be reduced because the one thing about durability at present that actually works out is weapon shattering hits being a staggering crit so you can just get your enemy's weapon...you know, if you ever needed to.
The sword swinging was a fun gimmick, some of the bosses were great and others weren't, and I really liked the game.
Groose pushes it from an okay to a good game for me. Peatrice was cool.
I'm fine with how often they break, they should just make it so that you can carry less so you're constantly cycling your weapons out, as it is you end up with 15 royal swords and only ever have to replace one with another that drops from the enemy you killed anyway. Could've made enemies drop less weapons, too.
I think they didn't go far enough with it honestly
Koloktos was the only thing it had going for it.
I don't think carrying less fixes the issue because you're almost always a stone's throw away from a weapon and at most a few minutes from one as strong as the one you just lost. It's the same problem, you just run into it more often because now you're passing up weapons at 5 full slots instead of however many it is now. I'd much rather see the world have a lot less weapons so the impact if durability has a chance to be felt after the 10 hour mark, but the ones you do find can actually last a little while. It'd make finding weapons feel more meaningful more consistently AND all the treasure wasted on containing weapons could be replaced with something more interesting.
Hear me out:
less slots, but less weapons in the world, as well
Keep the breaking speed the same, or even speed it up.
As it is now, durability is barely a consideration. Simply having less weapons that break slower would make no difference because the increase in durability would make up for the lack of weapons.
Add in the general chance of running out of weapons by reducing slots and the amount of weapons in the world
Mostly fine. I wouldn't speed up breaking because it's already a bummer getting a fun weapon and knowing it won't last. Keeping it at the same rate would be okay, I guess.
Would you watch a Zelda series produced by Netflix?
no they would fill it with lgbtbbq poc bullshit
yes i know there are already brown people in zelda
No, the fun in Zelda is playing it.
Here's your netflix Link, bro
