I do not think RE4 is that good.
The first act is great then it slowly falls apart and becomes an action game by the end.

RE5 did exactly the same, to the point it is the same game, perhaps a lot more campy and it did have co-op and multiplayer.

I would put RE4 as the 4th best.

RE7's overrated shit and I don't think anyone but zoomers would disagree, RE3 has a whole host of problems that people overlook because they were so enamored by the Nemesis.

The list is correct save for the original Resident Evil being there and not the Remake.

Ironically RE7 is pretty good on what he tries to do, it's simply that it's radically different to what everything else was trying to that point. It also doesn't helps it never brings back old characters

RE7 is great for what it does, it's a survival horror which really is spooky unlike 6, but it doesn't feels like in the same franchise than Two or 4.

RE7 is a big departure, and absolutely doesn’t resonate with Japan being a game set in the bayou. RE4 is super japanese despite being set in Spain. Las Plagas are very thematic to Japanese horror, to the point they’re a rip off of Parasyte: The Maxim.

Japanese have the best taste.

Gameplay is secondary to the themes, which are scary parasites, scary western religions, and scary bug things. Leon running and gunning through everything is a secondary consideration, and is still in line with REs up to that point.
