Really tired of these retards saying shit like "damn last gen are holding us back" and "cyberpunk looks like shit on last gen holy shit"
its not the console, its the shitty developers. Why are you so retarded to not see that?
Metro last light is also a large open world game with lots of detail, and looks an entire generation ahead of cyber punk; on the same console.
Consoles

Disregard the shit mission design and sluggish controls, red dead redemption looks ace on a base xbox one, and looks really clean on an xbox one x, why the fuck are people sperging out about this generation holding back games like cyberpunk?
if the game looks much worse on that generation compared to the next its the devlopers fucking fault because lots of much better looking also open world games look fine on those consoles.
Lol look at the hardware, these things are able to produce way bigger and better looking games that run well.
I think its both the developing software and skills of the people that work in the industry not being enough.
I think the more ai does things automatically the better games will be.
>metro last light
>barely any npcs
>ruined apocalyptic wasteland
>"looks good"
Ok lol
>oh man look at how shit the last gen looks!!
meanwhile in reality games realised on both gens are borderline identical bar some lighting and like on spiderman ps5, some nice raytracing which does make the game look nicer, because spiderman is reflecting in shiny windows, but the rest of the game is identical
You are so right dude, no game on the last generation had lots of npcs in tight spaces!!!
if they done im sure they look worse than cyberpunk 2077tm
You are all living in denial. Kids and normalfags will always praise graphics and visual fidelity, even if said fidelity stopped being noteworthy generations ago.
Corporations will always find something new:
>8K Mega Ress
>HDR+++ Ultra Dark
>Foliage™
Ever since the transition to 3D literally every visual advancement has been literal fluff. None of it contributes to immersion, world-building and definitely not to gameplay. Who really stops to count the amount of lines on leaves in Red Dead? Or would be greatly affected by half the petals in Ghost of Hiroshima? None of this stuff matters, and you're only impressed by it because you're told to look for it by literal marketing campaigns.
nope retard, you are wrong a few times in this post.
Better graphics does lead to better immersion obviously and can improve atmosphere. But lets ignore that part.
I do not care about graphics, but I am pissed off that companies are lowering what the console is capable off, and 6 months ago people were going mad at how good modern warfare 4 looked or how great mgs5 looked but are now pretending that that generation looks like shit compared to next gen, it makes no sense.
I would rather all games be cut off at technical level of kingdom hearts 2 or at best 360 era and the rest of the space and memory and whatever else goes towards MORE npcs on screen, more complex mechanics and much bigger, but also more detailed worlds.
but thats never going to happen.
But ghosts of tusanmai or whatever looks just as good on last gen as next, its way less of a jump than 360 to one even, its pathetic to see consumers cumming to the "upgrade" when the only benefit of next gen is that it could be the same fidelity as last gen with way more space for MORE and BIGGER, but instead devs will squeeze 5% better graphics and just as shallow and small games.
Hitman is not an open-world game, it's a mission-based game, and if you try to interact with most of those NPCs (e.g. shoot them) you realize very quickly that they operate by a very simple crowd AI.
Not to shit on the game, it's fit for purpose, but it's not comparable to Cyberpunk's concept.
>but it's not comparable to Cyberpunk's concept.
> if you try to interact with most of those NPCs (e.g. shoot them)
LMAO YOU CAN'T EVEN SHOOT NPCS IN CYBERPUNK RETARD LMAOOOOOOOOO
It absolutely does not lead to better immersion. Immersion is of course subjective, but I guarantee you that kids playing Final Fantasy 2 on their NES were just as immersed in whatever game you grew up with. Graphics have nothing to do with immersion. The reason you feel it does is because you've been convinced to think so.
I will not disagree with you on the generational gap though. But that leads back to my marketing and hype bullshit which you did not argue against so I'm going to assume you either agree or don't have any interesting opinion to share.
On the other hand I do agree that my "ever since the transition to 3D" line was a little weak and I don't know why I put it in there.
maybe fucking devs should try to accomadete their shit ideas in systems that actually work, cyber punk's city could have been made out of 4 or 5 large districts that have border security, so it can mask a load. Maybe if you passed into another district a short cutscene always played or something like that so the next district would load.
There is no excuse; saying the game has enclosed enviroments so comparing it to metro is bad is dumb because metro has areas like that too
or maybe some devs realise you cant actually have 200 unique npcs with unique dialog on screen at once.
>listen to cross-platform dev stream
>"we can't do that due to console performance"
>"we have to take console performance into account when we design levels and missions"
>"corporation requires that we must support every console in the generation if we want to support that console"
>"we had to redesign the UI to work with console"
>"we have to figure out how to implement that feature in a way that will work with the limited options of a console controller"
>"contextual menus"
>"action button"
>"for some reason Y isn't working on console at the moment, so we disabled it"
half of these, more actually are shit excuses
>y button isnt working
so fix the code retard
>we cant do that due to console perfomance
yes yes, only 40% of pc players have pc's better than current gen consoles and pc players rarely are enough finincially to justify a large budget game, so consoles are needed.
>console perfomance
same as above, you think most people who play pc can run games above medium on new shit? pc ecosystem is corrupt, they make your amazing top of the line card obselete in 3 years but the graphics are barely better, minimum settings go up but graphic fidelity stays the same
>controller
sure sure, but people have wanted more buttons for years, 4 paddles on the back would fix this issue and devs of consoles wont listen, fine.
>action button
yes bro like E to enter, E to pick up... retard.
Don't forget Arkham Knight
That game still looks phenomenal five years later
devs are lazy because they know PC modders will fix it for free
>consoles
they've been holding us back and redirecting the flow of game dev and design since xbox360 era at very least. In ~2010 games became truly mainstream and it was all ogre. I don't care what ass pull they show us now, very few games are worth the attention these days.
Didn't read lol. Consoles are for poorfags and retards who can't into budget.
The new ps5/seXbox consoles both run on a custom 2060m chipset.
The 'm' stands for mobile. As in phone. That's why every generation console manufacturers shils "PC KILLER" and post pictures from PC like the one you're using and you actually end up with 720p upscaled, 512px textures, edge blur, motion blur at silky smooth 22fps EVERY. SINGLE. GENERATION.
My rx580 ryzen 5 2600x $400 shitbox of a secondary computer I keep in my workshed to play music and factorio on is far better then the crap consoles that are just releasing.
You wasted your money on mobile parts scams again nigger. Enjoy continuing to pay to use your own internet twice dickhead.
Here is the actual console version of exodus on ps4/5
If you want to get into this, let’s talk about Hitman 1 and 2. What sorcery do IO employ to get this many NPCs into a map? There must be literally hundreds of them in the Miami mission alone...
Both of these games run perfectly on last-gen hardware.
CDPR is a different position from developers like 4A. 4A largely has developed their own code base, is far less reliant on middleware. CDPR liked to brag about their tools in the past but one thing they promised and failed to deliver on revealed their hand. Their failure to release their SDK made me curious - how could a developer fail to give access to their own tools?
So I looked into it myself. As it turns out, CDPR doesn't own 90% of their own tools and technology. It's all licensed middleware. So little of the technology powering the witcher 2, 3, cyberpunk are actually developed by CDPR. This gives little room for custom code, the potential for breaking EVERYTHING is insanely high, so a careful balance between all chunks of middleware must be maintained, and you can't really push any boundaries with it.
On PC in particular this has resulted in hideous microstuttering and awkward latency issues as well as all-over-the-place performance of the witcher 3. The game is a technical mess and cyberpunk is more of the same in this regard. Even on the best PCs, TW3 still has these problems despite looking distinctly 5 years old. Remember the big downgrade? Yeah it happened, the middleware couldn't keep up and the best PCs buckled. PC wasn't holding the game back, it was CDPRs shit engine.
looks better than cyberpunk still seethe tranny.
Assassins creed paris, though broken (shame since it was a great game really, just fucked up, never to be returned too)
was a launch title for last gen consoles and had hundreds of npcs on screen, you can go back now and the game looks amazing and has so many npcs on screen at once.
Missions like Miami are spread over a MASSIVE area and there are hundreds of NPCs, all of whom you can interact with, which is to say shoot, stab, blow up, strangle, etc. Further, the majority of the NPCs in Cyberpunk fulfill the same purpose: scenery for the map. What makes you think their AI is any more complex than the crowds in Hitman 2?
It doesn't really matter if a game is open world or not, that's a meme to temper your expectations.
why do people like you pretend to know what they are talking about, but are in fact 100% wrong in almost everything they say?
Sorry, your slav magic is all licensed from India, California and China.
yes, it does. but it achieved its look by having a fixed light position (no time of day). that allows all kinds of baking for lighting and shadows that a more typical open world game can't take advantage of. Ubisoft's AC Unity and The Division set the standard last-gen.
I bought this up in a thread yesterday, but remember the nightclub mission from Kane and Lynch, a 2007 game? There must be, again, at least a hundred NPCs in that club, and when the gunfight breaks out they all react and start flocking in groups around the action, begging for their lives in Japanese. This was running on an Xbox 360, somehow. What’s IO’s secret?
>So I looked into it myself. As it turns out, CDPR doesn't own 90% of their own tools and technology. It's all licensed middleware.
Redengine 1 and redengine 2 used havoc for physics alone. The rest they developed on their own. Redengine 3 is 100% inhouse developed.
>microstuttering
>bitcher 3
M8, this does not exist. At launch or now in 1.3x You're playing on console or you're using a fucking pentium 4 from 97.
>Comparing limited linear set pieces of like one city block to an actual open world where you have to fill miles of open space
user you may be retarded
>The rest they developed on their own
Wow, CDPR made scaleform and speed tree? They also made PhysX by Nvidia? Those Slovaks are amazing.
youtube.com
this game is 6 years old running on the same xbox that people are saying cyberpunk looks like complete dogshit on and complaining about it holding back the game.
It is open world and all of these npcs can be interacted with, shoved, pushed, killed, run away etc.
delete this.
