I'll pitch my own idea, I hope Sega likes it:
1. Shadow will always be saying "nigger" and "faggot" for now on, and he will be carrying more guns than usual.
2. Sonic is much more cocky, constantly shouting one-liners that reference various movies, Tv shows, and other video games.
3. Dr. Eggman is now Jewish, and Sonic will constantly call him "Dr. Jew"
4. Amy is much more of a slut; Her skirt is shorter, she wears makeup and her hair is longer. There's also a secret relationship with her and Shadow.
5. Blaze returns, but is only there to be made fun of by the other cast of characters, for her small breasts.
6. Cream is now a cunny.
7. Tails is much more wimpy, and is kind of just pathetic really, but somehow, he still manages to get laid by the older female characters.
8. Rogue's tittes are more fatter.
9. Knuckles is now the black stereotype, he's a pretty tough dude, but is always called a "nigger" by Shadow constantly. Sometimes, Shadow will say to him: "The only place you should be gliding is a farm where you should be picking cotton, nigger."

For them to give the Adventure formula another go or for them to build on the parkour system from Lost World. I think they had something with that that has benefits for both 2D and 3D play when you have it down.

Cream would do well in a 2D game with her own stages/stage pathing. Slower forward momentum but fast ascent for more vertical progression maybe.

My hope is that they make another CD/Sonic OVA style game with a original setting. Instead of time travel, have day and night time mechanic by destroying sun or moon crystals throughout the levels. They don't need to be broken to progress through the stage, but do add replay value.
The story could be that after Sonic 3 & Knuckles or years after the latest modern Sonic title, Sonic returned back to earth alone and heard about a event where they were celebrating a thousand year tradition where the sun and moon collide temporarily, creating a beautiful starry night sky. There's also a princess as well, who is enjoying the event before Eggman suddenly kidnaps the princess and the magical moon stone, causing the event to end with the night and day not working like they supposed to. Seeing the bad situation, Sonic plans to save the princess and defeat Eggman once more without any of his friends nor the chaos.
Also like with CD, there's no Chaos Emeralds. Only special sun stones via special stages in which if you collect enough, you'll unlock starry night version of levels and the true ending.
This also mean no super sonic, but that's not needed for a Sonic game honestly.
The artstyle for the game should be based off of old anime like pic related, with the cover being a white background that shows the princess looking to the side while Sonic is on the front of the cover with a serious face while Eggman is looking devilish in the back.

From a brief period between 2002 and early 2006 she was on every game, she was even a main character in the anime and in the happy meal toys she was part of the main cast.
I guess Sega just mostly forgot about her, The guys that made that shitty team racing game said they wanted to put cream as playable and chaos as power ups, But Izuka said that he wanted Cream removed so they could put chaos as playabble and Wisps as power ups.
