What's the most fun magic system you played in a 3D video game?
No turn based game like the early FF please.
Most fun magic system in vg

err, dragon's dogma is fun I gues.
Dragon's Dogma
lategame sure, but early game magic is horrible.
I swear I was gonna say in the OP "No Dragon's Dogma either" since I know it'll be the most quoted title.

>dragon's dogma
>waiting 10 seconds for a spell
Fuck that.
post the Amalur webm
Arx Fatalis
The spells consists of runes that you have to draw on screen using the mouse.
Mass Effect 2's Space Magic. If you run an Adept, the Biotics have short enough CD to replace guns towards the end.
Yeah, I can't imagine anything more fun than waiting for 15 seconds until a spell is ready and then just watching and wheezing for the next 10 seconds.
>Arx Fatalis

That's a cool system, though I wish that instead of only being able to cast existing spells you could experiment with the different runes to create different effects.
>t. adhd zoomer
>dude it's boring shit ON PURPOSE
Magicka
Invoker from dota
Merlin from gauntlet
Noita
pretty much any game where you can mix/combine/combo spells or create your own. sadly most games you just press a button and a big flashy thing happens with very little engagement.

Morrowind
Ikr, skyrim's insta cast spells are the way to go
I remember a game that got negative reviews for being shallow and repetitive, and the devs got so mad they basically did a combat montage of them using shit nobody used to do cool shit
Which one was that again ? Lichdom Battlemage ? I can't find the video anymore, anyone know what I'm talking about ?
all these talking shit about DD's magic system never sync-casted with four sorc pawns and it fucking SHOWS.
lichdom's biggest flaw is that it's fucking boring.
>combos that nobody used
such as? they're the one who set up the systems so that the only real diffence in comboing spells is that the numbers get bigger.
>four sorc pawns
Yeah, *they* are the ones who don't know the game, user.
four sorcs, my bad. sometimes I wish they had gone ahead and brought DDO to the west.
Two Worlds 2. The best mediocre game I've ever played.
Fuck DDO we want DD2 where a Gryffin can take me to the other side of the map if I don't let go of him when I'm climbing on his back to stab him.
Just imagine
Comestion and Brontide are early spells
This starts out a lot of fun learning and experimenting with the system, but eventually just boils down to spamming the same combo move over and over
>the soldier's faces when their grand hydra-slaying heroes doesn't come back down after the damned thing flies away
>Don't really like pure magic
>Don't really like pure melee
>Melee buffed with magic and light spell usage to supplement combat tickles my sweet spot just right
What games have good battlemages? Usually the class feels like a tacked on afterthought and ends up just being the "I couldn't decide" class. It wasn't a great game but equipping a 2h sword on a sorc in D3 felt cool even if it wasn't optimal.
also Dragon's Dogma, as Mystic Knight, does exactly what you are describing with the most fun class
>that part of the Grigori fight
>but it's actual landmass
BRO
depends on what you're looking for, DD has a magic knight class that's heavy armor, ecnhanted mace, and magic shield. that can also switch to staff. although MN's mainly used to have that orb cannon thing set up so you can melt away a hefty chunk of boss health bars if you have a pawn trained to attack the orb.
Oh I definitely played a shit ton of hours of MK. Absolutely loved it, actually bought DD back when it was on sale on Steam since last I played was on ps3 and MK murdered the frame rate.
in that case, I can't think of much else, maybe divinity II, or kingdoms of amalur?
Oblivion was made for battlemages if you're willing to mod a bit
I played and enjoyed kingdoms of Amalur, Divinity I've been on the fence for a while because I've never played a CRPG but if it has good battle mages I'll bite the bullet.
>divinity II
That one or Dungeon Lords or Elder Scrolls games.
The Wizards series
I think he means the actual Divinity 2: Ego Draconis not Original Sin
I really enjoy Code Vein and its magic system, even if a lot of the spells are pretty basic.
