It sold reasonably well, for what it was at least. In Japan lobbies are still a thing and it's how a lot of Japanese players play online. Emulation is not really as standard there so official releases are more relevant.

Already have the PS2 collection which has way more options with every single arcade build dipswitch while Resurrection won't even let you pick Huitzil, Pyron and Donovan because muh arcade fidelity.
And another stupid nitpick but I don't like how they shat all over the games' presentation like they did in 3S online by replacing in-game art with some Udon asshole's work.

The game was "free" (as free as a PS+ free game is, at least) so, admittedly, I didn't fiddle much with it to know. But it had all the crap 3S online had that bugged me like that vacuous trophy system for just repeating basic motions.

It depends since 1/2 and 3 are quite different but it's overall fast paced, you build and stack meter like crazy (especially in DS2), most combos you use are simple zigzag chains (there are more complex combos, particularly in DS3 but that's advanced play territory) and the game features some crazy motions for supers (if I'm not mistaken the Raging Demon input actually appeared in DS first). Some characters are very unorthodox like Anakaris that can't throw, has a side swap by backdashing into a corner and his neutral jump is a flight mode, Raptor have a command move for every button, Victor can hold mediums and heavies for chip damage etc.
Don't know how it still holds but I find it a very eye catching game. I still remember when I first played it, it was the second game for Saturn and I recall leaving it to play the attract mode and the very first demo round is Pyron and Hsien-ko and I was just amazed at all the shit happening on the screen. Visually, it really is a labor of love.

I am not baiting or exaggerating. If there's a group that comes even remorely close to being the FGC equivalent of GDQ it's american Darkstalkers community.
SG is the only other fighting game that has it even remotely as bad.
I don't know what aspect of Darkstalkers attracts those kinds of people. But it is what it is.

I try to play on fightcade but doing cr.lk>cr.mp>tenraihai is basically impossible on pad.
The closest thing there is to another FG jiangshi is Rufus' alt costume in SF4, and Rufus is disgusting. I just wanna use a jiangshi to beat people up bros.

It's not that hard, just practice it. I see a lot of people get it down in a week or so. She's harder to pick up then a few other characters but no one in this game is impossible or anything.
