...until you get to THAT boss, and then you spend the rest of the night feeling angry and frustrated
Yup. I had the same feel with Dark Souls and La-Mulana (played them back to back, couldn't believe I actually enjoyed TWO games in one decade)
I can't play a game with such a dumb art style
>I love being bored to death that's why I love video games
Lol okay.
Just give me a normal fucking map system.
What's wrong with it
People often complain about the early game but it was honestly my favorite part of Hollow Knight. I loved exploring and getting lost in the world. No other metroidvania I've played has done that part so well.
Nothing.
>no map at the start of area, need to explore blind to find it
>equip a pin to be able to even see where you are
>still doesn't auto update so you won't know where you are most of the time anyways
>barely any landmarks or anything memorable about the stages so you pull out the map constantly
>Map is earned, not given
As it should be.
Except for Fog Canyon, that shit was just annoying. Literally explored the entire area by the time I found how to get around that dumb fog wall.
>>no map at the start of area, need to explore blind to find it
>blind
Can you stop using ableist language?
How are you supposed to access the City of Tears dreamer without the double jump? The wiki says this ability isn't needed to finish the game, but I don't see how this is possible. The dreamer's tower has only one entrance, next to the HK statue, and you need the double jump to access it.
Hollow Knight
Cave Story (the original freeware version cavestory.org
Outer Wilds
Stuff like this really reminds me of why I love video games.
1. Go to the Dreamer's Tower
2. Die
3. Lure your shade to the spot you need to access
4. Pogo (Down + Attack) off your shade
There's several areas this works in.
Sounds like you need to play Rain World.
I love that too. Slipped my mind, sorry. It's on the list too.
After coming back to the game I was confused as fuck about what to do, where to go etc. It just feels like a mess, game is challenging enough in terms of enemies and level design, so some sort of normal map would be appreciated
Everything.
nothing
You gain another jump everytime you pogo off something. It can be one of those destructible background pieces, or your own shade.
there's a breakable lightpost or something, pogo off of that and dash, then wall jump off the ledge.
sounds complicated but, really isn't
>HK
>Metroidvania
Steam says I played for 33.8 hours before I got bored
Just how long is that damn game?
500 hours
For me, there was only one instance where I legit couldn't figure out where to go.
>find Ancient Basin before finding the dash
>Get to dash room before the corrupted vessel fight
>No dash, but see spikes
>Pogo all the spikes until the end, get fucked because you can't get enough height off the pogo to land the wallhang
>Write the room off in my head as needing a double jump to progress
>Get super confused on where to go because you need the double jump to get to the watcher knights
Yes, it should be called Undervania.
I finished everything except Godhome in 33 hours.
Around 30-40 hours depending on how much of it you do.
How is it not?
The same reason none of the Metroid games are.
The thing that pisses me off more than the map mechanics is the lack of stag stations in Deepnest and the Kingdom's Edge. It is a massive fucking pain in the ass to get to, around, and out of those areas.
Makes sense. I assume there are no more new areas, just the final game sequence at this point
What is the reason
