It's the only competitive genre alongside RTS where you can't blame your loss on your teammates. It's you against your opponent. That's it. The better player wins. Obviously things like game balance can still be a factor. But more often than not if you lost, then it's because you fucked up.
Compare this to any given shooter, moba, or other popular genre, where having a retarded team mate can mean that the game is over before the match even started. Doesn't matter how good you play. They fuck up, you lose.
