I should clarify that I didn’t think tomoyo had a terrible route, it was fine. But compared to Kyou, Kotomi, or even Fuko, I don’t get why this route is considered the holy grail among people who played this game, so popular that she even got a spin off. Any Tomoyofags who can explain?

Tomoyo isn't a mary sue, she's at least as responsible as Tomoya for their relationship falling apart midway through and is an oblivious, thickheaded busybody. People like her because she's pure and honest, and the scene where she confesses to you in the snow is one of the best romantic scenes in any VN.
Tomoyo After is a piece of shit and Tomoyo is basically an entirely different character in it, as well as the story not really being about her at all. In the first five minutes she's fucking you like 8 different times in a bunch of cosplay whore outfits, for instance, when in Clannad Tomoyo scolds you for even thinking about sex. It also has one of the worst examples I can think of when it comes to shitty gut-punch Key endings.
