Why this game is still a masterpiece?
Even the graphic is still good.
I really think it's the best Capcom title of all time.
RE4
The comedy was spot on. It knew when to add a little humor. Unlike every other entree in the series.
capcoom
>QTEs out the ass
>focus on setpieces
>more linear than previous game
>unga bunga action all the time, no puzzles or tests of your spatial ability like previous games
>brown monochrome graphics
When ANY other series does what RE4 did it gets slammed into oblivion. Ι seriously don't get why basically everyone gives RE4 a pass.
Note I think it's a fine enough game. But there are tons of games that are ok in their own terms but weren't like previous games in its series, got more casualized and linear with worse artstyles and people fucking HATE that there but not here?
Good buildup, when things got cooking it kept the action fast. Ashley was just an escort mission, but she was constantly being kidnapped so that most of the time you were alone just fighting.
It was practically an action thriller in the end. The build up is what made it, and there was a good skill cieling where you could take out enemies with as little ammo as possible by using melee attacks.
The village battle was incredible. You were always surrounded, and when you try to wall yourself into the safety of a building, you can see the enemies start to tear down your barricades, put up ladders, throw molotov cocktails through the windows.
The AI, while primitive, had some nice tricks. Enemies behind you would silently rush up to you from your blind spot, then slowly walk forward and attack you from behind. So you would recieve quite the shock when some enemy is strangling you from behind. So you learn to always look behind you, and you're always on edge. This system goes a step further, and will often have MANY enemies sneak up behind you, so when you do eventually turn around and check, you will see a small crowd of enemies about to ambush you. This just adds to the tension and enjoyability of the combat, which makes overcoming the obstacle that much sweeter.
it has the greatest intro to a video game i've ever experienced and is only rivaled by the likes of half life 1 and dead rising 1. on top of that it has maybe the best voice acting in a video game and line after line of dialogue is fun and memorable.
>you got a smoke?
>got gum
>small world, eh?
>okay, it's game time
>no thanks, bro!
>you stay with leon. he's better with the ladies. i'm sure...
>saddler, YOU'RE small time
>women...
and that's just the characters and writing. every game should strive to be like RE4. sometimes i lean towards RE2 (1998) being better, but im back in the RE4 camp for now.
good fucking god please don't remake this game capcom you fucking rat bastards
Just because the copies are shit doesn't mean the original is shit.
>worse artstyles
imagine thinking REmake compares to RE4 lmao. The game was state of the art stuff.
gud setting, didnt go full politcoretarded
PANTSU
Keeps the action coming and never slows down (at least not enough to make you get bored). It just gives you some time to recuperate before the next wacky event.
Mowing down waves of enemies while simultaneously knowing that there is a greater threat lurking somewhere that can kill you instantly if you aren't careful is extremely engaging, especially when the controls are tight enough to make it so that losing doesn't feel unfair.
I think this user summed it up pretty nicely. It did a lot of new things that revolutionized the ways we can experience action sequences in a videogame, but more importantly it did all of those new things right. Nothing was half-assed; it was perfect.
>Why this game is still a masterpiece?
im not sure they ever stop being one if they are given that title.
>Even the graphic is still good
eeeeehhhh
>I really think it's the best Capcom title of all time
RE2 for me, not just best Capcom title, but the best video game ever made.
How's that HD texture mod going?
For me it's the constant brooding atmosphere. Yes this changes at the island but the rest of the game is perfect.
almost done
it's not in any way shape or form
2 seemed like a downgrade compared to the first. a fucking moth? what?
>2 seemed like a downgrade compared to the first
is that something you read on the internet was it?
Sex with Ashley.
No way fag.
Soon I hope. Only one chapter remaining but who knows what he still has to do afterwards.
it literally was, 2 was casualized because kamiya doesn't like horror games and capcom wanted to sell more copies
Surely they understand remaking this game would be retarded. Its STILL selling well. Thats how well this game stands up.
>2 was casualized
RE1 is a casual video game that was a blockbuster hit bought by millions, it spawned a sequel, comic books, toys, and became an instant modern classic that had a massive influence on the industry. Again, you sound like you are talking about this like you have only read about it.
Literally Leon carries this game on his back. People love this character so much they overlook and forget all the plentiful bad shit 4 was guilty of, mostly by blaming it on 5.
Redpill me on the recent coomer influx on the RE games?
They aren't waifu games that weebs and coomers usually care about?
Is not. Kamiya doesn't like horror so he wanted an action game. If you look for 1.5 info you will find the game had
>Multiple handguns, shotguns, machine guns, hand granades and so on
>Zombies were basically pre-alpha ganados, able to climb up some minor obstacles, run and attack in large groups
>Armor items
>Police station was designed to be a proper police station instead of an esque-Spencer mansion with puzzles, as a result the gameplay was consistently about entering a room and clean it up from the enemies and nothing else
>No resources scarcity, not even a false feeling about it just like RE1
People hate RE4 because how was focused on action and abandoned many classic staples but if it wasn't for Mikami and Kamiya who dropped 1.5 at the last moment we would not have as many classic titles (with all their flaws) as we got. 1.5 was the seed for 4.
It's funny you say all that because before RE4 was a hit people were surprised they even chose him. we say the very earliest reveal and were all like "oh yeah, THAT guy. Was wondering what the fuck he even did now, why does he look so sickly now?"
Im going to need all of that again but in English. Are you asking if RE has a strong coomer following "all of a sudden"? It's always been 1/3 coom.
>RE1 is a casual video game
Maybe if you started with REmake.
RE1 was actually metal as fuck
RE1 is no less action than RE2, it simply has less enemies on screen and shittier hit boxes, what are you talking about? Look, here is me filling up the entire item box in RE1, i had THAT many resources that by the time i was just about to hit the lab i literally couldn't place any more items in the item box.
>Comparing a rehearsed run to a bli- er uh first time playthrough
>RE1 was metal as fuck
no it wasn't. In fact it's knife was 10x more useful than it was in RE2. You never ran out of ammo, see
Let's bot forget how much content / replayability was in this game.
1: Main game
2: Seperate Ways campaign
3: Ada Assignment short campaign
4: Mercenaries
If this game was released today, all that extra stuff would be locked behind paywall.
"If I know where all the ammo spawns and which zombies I don't have to backtrack too the game is easy!"
Sweet, RE2 is even easier
then you don't get to shit on RE2 either you fucking dummy, holy fucking retard.
No one is "shitting" on Re2 retard, but to claim it was as difficult or as prone to soft locking yourself as the first game makes you delusional.
You are a fucking retard. Your entire argument that RE2 is magically super easier can also be reduced to this. Sorry, RE1 is not mega special hardcore gamer game that you thought it was because you struggle.
Yeah, even the first release without the second Ada campaign and new extra was Full of extra shit, Capcom until X360/Ps3 was based.
Im not saying RE2 is hard though, in fact it literally is probably the easier game in the whole series, but you "muh hardcore" faggots can fuck off if you are going to pretend RE1 is some mega normie-fuck filter. Get the fuck out.
>is magically super easier
I guess cutting down like 10-20 zombies in the first 5 minutes means it's more difficult?
>I agree but I need to be contrary
Depends on the version. The original one for west is actually hard because Capcom told devs to remove auto aim from the japanese version and also increase the overall health of all enemies. But honestly, if you don't do anything stupid and understand how enemies work you will easily end up with tons of ammo and herbs at the end of the game.
That's why I said the feeling of resource scarcity. RE1, and 2 to some extent, tricks you into thinking you never have enough ammo or herbs to survive, that's why 1 and REmake are so brilliant. And honestly, REmake has Real Survivor mode where you actually don't have any ammo or herbs to kill every enemy, that mode and Invisible Enemies are probably the most metal modes in RE classic. But at that point you have already learned about how to avoid 95% of the enemies, right?
>you will never have a beautiful busty super rich girl lusting over your cock
LEON YOU FUCKING IDIOT
No you fucking faggot, but i won't see people try to pretend RE1 is some fucking casual filter just because another game is a smoother experience. RE1 isn't hard. Any times it is being more unfair is not because the game is being scrooge with it's resources, it's because the combat hit boxes are often complete fucking garbage. There is just tons of jank, sometimes the jank even makes things easier and you can just trick zombies into walking left or right suddenly into a wall and getting stuck there walking forward until you are long gone. No one here is super snowflake hardcore for finally picking up a copy of RE1 and finishing it, sorry.
>Jank
Don't you zoomers call that "Soul"
What's with the stick in your ass buddy? You start with REmake and resent OG chads that much?
>You start with REmake and resent OG chads that much?
my first RE game was Resident Evil Director's cut the one that came with the RE2 demo disc, i first played in 1997.
