How Randy Pitchford Has Tarnished Gearbox's Reputation

>Randy Pitchford needs no real introduction. He's the co-founder and CEO of Gearbox Software. He's been the face of the game studio for years by this point, and the studio created titles like Borderlands and Battleborn, but it hasn't all been smooth sailing for the company under Pitchford's gaze. Randy tends to get himself into trouble, and he's done so many times over the years. Pitchford's knack for trouble has tarnished the reputation of the company he helms.

Former general counsel for the company Wade Callender sued the company in 2019, alleging that Randy had left a USB drive at the restaurant that contained sensitive company data and child pornography. On top of this, it was also alleged that there had been a $12 million bonus from parent company Take-Two meant for Borderlands 2 that Randy had instead pocketed. Eventually, both sides agreed to drop the lawsuit, but the issue had already dragged the company partially through the mud by that point. Though the lawsuit was dropped and no formal charges were ever made against Pitchford, many still believe Callender's claim.

>Even the recent Borderlands 3 isn't immune from Pitchford's penchant for getting the company in hot water with fans. During development, it came out that voice actor and well-known voice of Clap-Trap, Dave Eddings, would no longer be voicing the chatty little robot. Pitchford himself took to Twitter to say it was a mutual decision, but things changed when Eddings spoke up, revealing he refused because he wasn't being paid for the performance.

Aliens is Fox, now Disney. Dunno about what happened to them in this situation, but SEGA and Gearbox got sued and Randy spun it like it was all SEGA's doing. Despite Randy clearly taking SEGA's money for other projects (Duke, Borderlands 1 AND 2), being the one in charge of making that fake E3 demo and SEGA being forced to just roll with it to not lose any more money. Not to mention false advertising in vidya with bullshots hasn't gotten anyone in much trouble until that game.

Known Randy Pitchford was a shady fuck not to be trusted since long ago when he lied about the origins of the Gearbox name and when the journalist actually fact checked and discovered his story wasn't true and subsequently contacted Randy for comment he just said "It's your fault for believing me." That's the way genuine sociopaths think.

Randy has been giving them crap product after crap product that doesn't push units. The disaster that was Aliens Colonial Marines, everything involving Battleborn, and Borderlands 3 not selling as well as they anticipated. He's no Kotick.

Didn't it come out it was all bullshit anyway? Randy is a piece of shit to other people but he has been done dirty himself a few times too.

Prince showed that the electronic files for the music showed the copyright belonging to him. Pitchford said he would take care of the payment, though Gearbox seemed to instead retaliate by suing 3D Realms for not saying the music was included in the sale.
