AST is good, best healer for three expansions and counting. Biggest change is your cards are all DPS boosts, including Lord and Lady.

It's a lazy rework to make the job playable outside of 8 man raids. The real deal, for better or worse, will come in 6.0 now that all new abilities have to be new abilities and not greased lightning utility.

Wind is useless outside of cities, but Earth has utility now that you aren't punished for swapping of fists of wind

It went from one huge buff with a longer recast time to a charge system with faster recharges but each charge only covers a small window. It will make the job more active at any rate, with more ogcds to press. Still feels lazy since it's basically just a sidegrade to True North, almost feels like they should have just given us 5 True North stacks.

It's still RNG, but people complained everything except balance was useless. Your cards now have extra icons and you want to get one of each to boost your AOE damage buff. Arrow, Balance, and Spear go to melee jobs for 6% damage, or 3% on anyone else. And vice versa with the other three.

GCD speed will be exactly the same. You'll be using tornado kick every 45 seconds at no cost and using Riddle of Earth as a secondary True North instead of popping it once a minute, and you get more chakras now so the ogcds will increase. Overall a speed upgrade, but there's less planning in the job now and it's more about reaction.

Not only that, its only gonna trigger on aoes lmao

The flow is still the same, but I do miss Lord and Lady being a nuke or a big oGCD heal. Now they're just 8% damage buffs for melee and ranged respectively. That said, AST has some amazing new skills like Celestial Intersection and Horoscope.

It's a really good change in terms of job design imho. MNK was always the job with which I could unga bunga and concentrate on positionals and downtime instead of having to plan CDs 30s in advance to me.

No, it's now just a secondary, shorter True North that you pop when you need positional-immunity, with a damage reduction because why not. It doesn't trigger off anything.

what they should do is make Wildfire an automatic direct/crit so its actually satisfying to use, WF does fuck all damage for a 2 minute cooldown
