What's the consensus on Death Stranding?

It's a thing.

its alright, burgers need not apply

Spoony couldn't play more than an hour so it's shit

I think it was alright! Some segments like the gas section weren’t developed properly from the gameplay standpoint, but I still open the game from time to time to deliver some orders after beating the story

worst game if you can call it a game

Retarded writing, cool gameplay concept and original use of open world, fucking poorly executed and tedious after 5 hours

The Consensus has agreed to disagree.

Highest budget walking simulator ever made.

If you like video games mixed with movies, with the weaknesses of both and strengths of neither, then this game is for you.

It's great in small bursts. The physics are fun, and the world is beautiful. The writing is retarded, but that's expected.

Cool game
Retarded story

some people liked it some dont. I kinda liked it eh.

GOTY

Hard work pays out.

It is it's own thing and it does what it does well. It's not a good game though. Kojima's childish story writing is laugably bad and the gameplay is bare bones. It's a game that is more about the experience and less about the individual parts.

Still it's an experience that I ended up enjoying more than I thought I would.

Worth picking up if you have the spare time and really want to experience it for youself, but otherwise I'd skip it.

I tried really hard to enjoy it, but there just isn't much variety to the gameplay. Literally just fetch quests.

In 2019, I laughed at it and called it a walking simulator.
In 2020 I actually got to play it and cried for an hour straight in the end.
I think it's a deeply flawed masterpiece. Some of the mechanics were a pain in the ass and not done that well, but the overall package was addictive and enjoyable. Same with the writing, you have a simple drama of one family and great characters like Heartman and Deadman running underneath a pointlessly obtuse and, frankly, nonsensical extinction plot.

What a faggot

Shitty game that people who love huffing their own farts will insist is the best thing since sliced bread.

Got boring 75% of the way through. I dropped it around the time of filling out most of the second map, a little after the WW2 snowstorm part.

I still play and fully immerse on it from time to time.

I loved it

Most wholesome game ever. Didn't kill anyone or ruin anything, I just fixed some shit

It's Kojima's best game. Despite all the cutscenes it has more gameplay in it than your average MGS title.

Pretty fun. Effectively a tech demo that demonstrates that these kind of games can be fun. If they just went at it again with a new map and deepened the gameplay it would genuinely be up there as one of the best games. Story was eh outside of setpiece set ups, boss fights felt like a very cool idea that they were afraid to push too hard on, and the gameplay felt like scratching the surface because they weren't sure how it would be taken.
Just add more shit to the game like the stickygun loot steal, grab mid air, then throw back at enemy level of interaction with the world, better ai, and then some dark souls invasion mechanic and you've got yourself game of the year.

Great gameplay, coolish world design, boring story, stupid lore, and ugly annoying characters.

it's good.

How is this allowed

>Afraid of the ocean
>Genuinely panics me a bit
>Get over it, start to actually enjoy the boss fights
>Find out that their ai is retarded
>Farms them
They were so close. I genuinely hope for a sequel.

Very different from anything else, which may be a good or bad thing, depending on your taste. If you don't like kojima's story telling than you won't like it, but if you can handle that kind of stuff then its a fun ride.

The only thing it needed was to be less forgiving.

Harder AI, more robust combat (bosses etc) and harsher environments / less resources.

The shared space mechanic was cool but it made the world feel full and not desolate.

I replayed it on the highest difficulty offline and it was fucking kino.

Play Subnautica

That is exactly why I'm not going to play subnautica.

Dude it's fine
