What are some movies that are basically video games?
For example, Falling Down is heavily inline with the "weapon upgrade" trope, every time he beats a "boss" he gets a new weapon.

Intersting take, I'm guessing you mean how it's about going to 12 pubs to get the mcguffin (Beer) within while fighting off an alien threat?
The Last of Us 1 and 2 draw a lot of inspiration from video games.
Any movie that establishes at the start "We are going to go here and here and here to do Thing" and then does not stray from that plan much ends up feeling like a video game. Worlds End though is extra videogamey since every place they visit is a bar.
Cabin in the Woods is essentially Ghost Master: The Movie.
I just watched this movie, he's just angry cause he lost his job and can't see his kid. Thought it was gonna be deeper than that. 6/10
it was a simpler time
he just wanted to go to his daughter's birthday
Crank High Voltage's INTRO is just a video game version of the movie you're about to watch
You're missing the point of the movie is that he represents an ordinary American man who takes the "plunge" that everyone wishes they could do on a bad day. It's about how at the start you respect him standing up against shitty store owners, gangs and nazis and then it quickly turns into him hurting ordinary people.
I think it's funny that they made him too sympathetic. So mid way in the film they make him seem like he always was an abusive asshole. instead of that day being the one he finally snapped.
To me it was more about how close relationships can change, and the futility of trying to change them back. The mc spends the whole movie fighting for a home that is no longer his.
Hey I was just about to post that.
The Edge of Tomorrow (for dying over and over again and learning patterns)
Emily Blunt a cute
dude was mental
pretty sure the point of the movie was to show that mental breakdowns are not a good thing
That's what happens when a man that developed rockets capable of glassing entire cities goes mental. He wasn't right in the head long before the movie starts.
that movie was shit in comparison to the manga
but i really liked the ending of the movie more than the ending of the manga
la noire = chinatown
gta 4 = heat
max payne 3 = tropa de elite
rdr = unforgiven, dollars trilogy, the searchers, jesse james, every other western movie really
last of us = the road
sekiro = ran
what are some other games with obvious film inspo?
D-FENS did few things wrong but could have done a lot more.
Falling Down is the peak 'just peacefully sunset yourself white America' movie. He gets angry at immigrants but only for not totally fitting in, e.g. the price gouging shop owner or the gang bangers. But the truly despicable and irredeemable character is the caricature nazi. D-Fens even gets help from a plucky black kid at the end. Joel Schumacher is very good at what he is doing.
Jurassic Park
World War Z plays exactly like a game would, whith jumping from mission to mission.
New Dredd
>gta 4 = heat
GTA IV and V have Heat inspiration.
>D-Fens gets told how to shoot a rocket launcher by a black kid
>This somehow paints the black kid in a good light
Take your meds, dude
Yeah, a random black kid is more competent at handling a rocket launcher than a middle aged ex-defense contractor, absolutely no sub-text there.
Seems to me it is you that missed the point retard.
Shitty store owners, gangs and nazis ARE ordinary people.
Big Trouble in little China
Total Recall
Running Man
That black kids are all criminals? Yeah great anti-white message.
He isn't portrayed as a criminal, he is the standard black wiz-kid that's helping the in over his head middle aged white male.
This movie is the very template of an RPG
Like I said, take your meds.
The sad part is that the neo-Nazi is probably the only person that could have cleared up his confusion and given his life any meaning.
Every video game in history ripped this off
I get that this was just a pastiche of Vietnam tropes with a science fiction coat of paint but godamn Halo and Starcraft what are you guys doing
Allow me to resolve this argument between the both of you by bringing up this from the time of the movie's release

>The annoyances and menaces that drive D-Fens bonkers-whining panhandlers, immigrant shopkeepers who don't trouble themselves to speak good English, gun-toting gangbangers-are a cross-section of white-guy grievances. From the get-go, the film pits Douglas-the picture of obsolescent rectitude with his white shirt, tie, specs and astronaut haircut-against a rainbow coalition of Angelenos. It's a cartoon vision of the beleaguered white male in multicultural America.
>A black female poet read at the Inauguration, welcoming everybody to the party-"The Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew/The African, the Native American, the Sioux/... the Ashanti, the Yoruba, the Kru"-and dropping in the occasional Swede and Scot almost as if they were ... tokens. WASPs didn't even rate a mention. Some party. Suddenly white American males are surrounded by feminists, multiculturalists, P.C. policepersons, affirmative-action employers, rap artists, Native Americans, Japanese tycoons, Islamic fundamentalists and Third World dictators, all of them saying the same thing: You've been a bad boy.
>They don't have the emotional capacity that it takes to qualify as human beings. The one good thing about these white, male, almost-extinct mammals is that they're growing old. We get to watch them die.
john wick ripped off max payne and didn't even bother with bullet time
Max Payne is just ripping off John Woo and martial arts cinema pleb
but then stranglehold happened which was direct hard boiled in game form
This movie is basically god mode
