Games You Can Easily Pick Up and Put Down

I'm a 20 year old boomer who no longer has the time to invest in playing 80 hour rpgs for stupid long sessions or spending forever being really competitive and trying to get good at stuff like league, but I still want more than a mobile game.
Games like Hearthstone, except I don't want to play Hearthstone because I hate it. What do you play when you just need something to pick up for an hour? Preferably pvp.

Take the chess pill

I'm too stupid for chess, unfortunately

Smash is my go to for quick gaming sessions but you probably already either love or hate this game

the binding of the isaac

any monster hunter game (all hunts are capped at 50 minutes at most)
noita

Sim City 4

Monster Train and Slay The Spire are both extremely good for playing for a bit, putting down, and then picking up a run again later on assuming you just don't like Hearthstone (totally reasonable that "game" is dogshit and powercrept to oblivion) and not card games in general.

DRG

I fucking love card games and will never not be mad that Eternal and Hearthstone are the only pc ones

Rhythm Heaven

Take the checkers pill

Star Citizen since it's lighter than air.

>Singleplayer
Ori and the Blind Forest is a short little game and nothing really stops you from leaving. Pretty satisfying tale and great platforming, only has shit combat early on. It's checkpoint system will make sure you never miss out on anything when you quit the game, as you can save just about anywhere that is safe, provided you have Energy.

Deep Rock Galactic. A mission lasts 15 minutes - 1 hour depending on how good you and your team is. Best FPS shooter you will find.
>PvP
idk i don't play these anymore

One Way Heroics.

Actually no, nevermind. Scratch Ori.
I assume you want something with good replayability, right OP?

Just go Deep Rock Galactic like i and said. Sounds like your type of game outside of not being PvP

I play Baba Is You before going to bed usually. I like to do a level or two. Usually I get sleepy after trying a bunch of different solutions. When I come back to it the next day, the solution just comes to me.

this is a great example, actually
I need to continue Baba is You. I stopped at the sea

will drg just make me sad that I have no friends
Vermintide is cold lonely and boring with randoms

I like most randoms in DRG, provided i am playing hazard 4 or 5. Getting friends is not that hard user.
I'd love to play with you.. If i knew you outside of Zig Forums.

New Hitman. Sessions can be very short, not even counting saves.

Just play indies and avoid AAA garbage: point & clicks, walking sims, FMVs etc etc. Also this isn't the right board for you. Zig Forums thinks more is better, they are too young to hate stretch content.

You realise you can play long games in small chunks right? Why are you zoom zooms so stupid?

>MTGA

Play shmups. Go to /vr/ shmup thread

no.

Battlefield 2 battlefield 1942

Fighting games are my go to. There might be an arguable time to dig in assuming how good you want to get, but, the short matches are easy for pick up and put down play. You're never stuck doing it for more than 5 minutes at a time.

You're a fucking zoomer

The original DOOM is kinda great, you can play in short bursts and it's really addictive, plus there's 6 gorillion mods for it.
