You are gonna have to beat FF11 before they shut down the servers, might want to do that one first.

Start with FF1 and FFV on GBA, using enhancement patches and whatnot, then play FF4 on the NDS. I don't know what the definitive version of FF6 is, but I played the GBA version.
For anything newer, play the PC ports.

Honestly, yeah. I believe that the remake is even worse, it kinda screws up a lot of balance and some stuff.

Don't overlook the spinoffs. Tactics is better than most of the mainline games.

The only good remaster they made is FFXII: The Zodiac Age. Every other FF remaster is trash and you're better off playing the original.
The only caveat are the PSP remasters of FF1, 2, and 4 considering they are so old that even their generic rpg maker remaster still is a better approach than playing the original.

There's no definitive way, you tard. Either play in order of release date, in order of most acclaimed, or in order of what interests you the most.
If you want an idea of which order to go in, the last place to ask is somewhere with tons of anonymous users who will all give you different opinions.
