>lowest DPS weapon in the game that also has a ton of near mandatory skills to slot in with the trade off of being the safest and most comfortable
>all of the endgame monsters either have insanely strong or outright insta-kill unblockable attacks >they also do ridiculous chip damage on blockable attacks even with maxed out guard skills >they also have DPS checks or shorter timers than the rest of the monsters punishing defensive play >they also have gimmicks that practically require you to slot in certain skills on sets that have little spare room
Lance feels far better in World than it did in Generations, it's just the end game monsters seem to have been designed with countering this specific weapon in particular for some reason.
Connor Evans
Better defense, more boring offense (poke x3, step, repeat). They gave it this identity as a counter/prediction weapon but then made Longsword a cooler version of that.
Kevin Myers
gunlance is the best lonehunta weapon in the game because it does both slice and blunt damage + best defense in the game
you can easily break horns and cut tails all by yourself and nothing gets to you
Noah Brown
>more boring offense (poke x3, step, repeat) thats how i play gunlance
No. I just tried it out for the first time after playing a ton of gunlance. Besides the clutch counter, it's entirely the most boring weapon in the game.
If you've only ever used Wide shelling AKA poke shell poke shell gameplay, then no Lance is just poke poke poke counter / hop, poke poke poke counter / hop Sometimes you do a clutch claw counter and then die immediately because you get temporary rocksteady and the monster is often still doing its attack lol I automatically kick lance users when they join my hunts, the DPS will actually increase if you do even if you're stuck at 3 man
Sebastian Adams
>clutch counter, the fuck is clutch counter?
Elijah Cooper
Yo switchaxefags, why? I'm moving through different weapons in world to see the changes and SA feels like it kinda got shafted in comparison to the additions other weapons got. Seems like a mashier LS without the cool stuff or defensive abilities.
Jaxson Watson
>clutch counter Sorry. Are you playing base world or Iceborne?
Yeah but WF, charged shells, popcorn, and stakes mean you're looking for good opportunities to get those shots off. Lance was pretty much all reactionary defense stuff while you hit the monster with free pokes throughout the fight.
Michael Lee
I dont know about world, but in previous games it was all about P H I A L S
I'm a CB guy myself, ever since 4. Slapping some punk ass monster in the head with the Omega Sanction(tm) is infinitely satisfying.
Jacob Howard
i bought iceborne last week but i only had like 20 hours of world before that
i just reached what i belive is the "high rank" of this version of the game, after i made the giant lava turtle go to the ocean
Blake Green
i normaly do like that, when the monster gets stunned i do the upper swing followed by the down swing + shell. if the monster is not atacking follow that with the right swing and stab save the boomstick for when the thing is down
Luis Wilson
While in the counter stance, press L2 right before you get hit. Enjoy being Spiderman.
Jason Thompson
>main lance >post dps meter at end of hunt in the chat >salty gamers who disregard lance as low dps weapon start coping in chat i respect all weapons that were made in 3rd gen and before. bugstick is eternal cringe.
the highest dps gamers i know were a Bow and SnS and therefore I respect those weapons the most
its exclusive to the lance or everybody can have it??
Kevin James
Gotcha. Clutch counter is a specific move for the Lance where if a monster hits you with a physical attack, you will grapple onto the monster instead of taking a hit.
It's probably the most fun you can have with the lance.
You're a shitter for posting the information you got from your cheats, and the people you were hunting with were shitters for having such low DPS so your gloating didn't even prove anything.
Jackson Rodriguez
Everyone has different clutch claw attacks with Iceborne. SnS gets an uppercut after a roll that goes straight into the cling (a different kind of mount added with Iceborne). Greatsword gets shotgun blasts after charge attacks with a high chance of flinching the monster if you have the right ammo. Longsword gets the same thing after spirit attacks. Theres a lot, you should do the clutch claw training mission then mess around with the clutch attacks in the training area
>unblockable attacks Your hop can cover a huge distance and has great frames but your reaction to a powerful attack is to block?
Chase Nguyen
I mained SA in world and it was fun not the best but fun, in Iceborn the weapon felt like garbage the monsters are too fast for it and the DPS is too low for the investment, switched to GS and I slapped the whole expansion into submission
Liam Stewart
>cheater >anime poster >idiot Just like the simulations
Jason Williams
>anime Ahh yeah, opinion discarded
Justin Murphy
If I have taken the time to slot in a skill called Guard Up that tells me it will let me block unblockable attacks, I'm going to assume it will actually let me do that.
Easton White
it's Lance specific. Other weapons have other stuff. SnS basically has a shoryuken with the claw, IG can dive straight down while airborne to mount etc.. Some are neat and others are entirely useless or very situational. Clutch counter will kill you more often than not.
Dylan Foster
I bought this for a friend so he could play with me and this fucking guy opted to us kb+m and play with insect staff because he saw some streamer do it. All he fucking does is jump around, he doesn't even fucking hit anything.
Matthew Cook
Like the gunlance, it's unique traits are flashy but obsolete and the best dps comes from spamming the most boring pokes over and over.
As someone who loves GL, Lance >> Gl simply because Lance can block virtually anything, even supernovas now thanks to iceborne. And it at least has forward mobility without needing to waste gems for it.
See, the lance's shield is designed around rewarding action and punishing passivity. Counters, super counters, and shield bashes are the best way to use the shield. Outside of that, you're better off using the lance's generous triple-chained sidesteps or shield-sidesteps. Actually shielding is your last resort.
Dylan Evans
You can technically block them, is just that maybe the chip damage is too damn high.
Also the only monsters with that bs problem are the ones on the sieges and the 2 last dragons.
Brandon Rogers
only shitter's and tooters lose to Lance. HH at least buffs everyone else. Lance is still fun but fall short to the god that is sns
Sebastian Rogers
>3 player health scaling is the same as 4 players WHY H Y
Oliver Walker
Heh at least he gets all the bufs..........right?
Isaac James
neat i normaly only use the claw to get explosive shots from monsters, didnt know it had these cool moves
