Is artstyle important to you in a game?
Is artstyle important to you in a game?
yes, an artstyle i don't like will strongly deter me from playing a game, spelunky comes to mind
It's not important to have a good art style, but it is important to not have a bad one
I prefer games with interesting artstyles far more than games trying max graphics/photorealism. Also games with focused artstyles age infinitely better.
Video games are a visual medium. An artstyle can make or break the game.
Yes.
Spelunky has a great style though
No it does not.
Never played Spelunky, but whether or not you like the artstyle you can tell it's Spelunky.
yeah i'm not saying it doesn't, i just don't like it
Yes, everything visual is important in a VIDEO Game.
What a stupid fucking question OP
That doesn't mean its good.
looks liek flash ugliness
Pretty important, yeah. For better or for worse. I still fucking regret spending $14 and 14 hours of my life on Owlboy, what a pile of shit.
>does art matter
Yes. If a game has a shitty soulless gacha mobile artstyle then i won't bother playing it
I hate the N.sane Trilogy soo much
Walk along the fence ropes, crash.
Jesus, how can fuck up so badly?
I know it is a minor detail, but remakes is full of crap like that.
In the visual department: Artstyle>>>>>>>>>>>Graphics
It is one of a game's most important parts, along with the entire presentation and style. It's their "heart and soul." For me, it's Jet Set Radio. Actually playing it kind of sucks, but I love the style and presentation, so I still play it. Just listening to the soundtrack or whatever isn't the same.
why does this feel so depressing?
I'm convinced the people that remake games don't even play the originals. They just get all the art assets dumped on them at get told to make it """better"""
Because it was made by a company that bought the IP, sold the games using the name alone and put the most generic people in charge of it.
Yes, all elements are important. No compromises.
i fuxking hate cobblestones
Are you serious or trying to bait? Because I can't stand the art styles in either the Crash remake or the Spyro remake. It's not nostalgia either, because I only played those two series for the first time in 2018.
Art design can sell me on a game. even a shitty one.
Have you seen the credits? The pajeet coders couldn't figure out how to replicate the effect from the original.
not usually but the new toejam and earl was one of very few instances where i was actively deterred
