how would you save the mmo?
Are mmorpg player retarded?
Reject theme park.
Embrace sandbox.
Skills of osrs but not clicker.
Raids and dungeons of theme park MMO's but more incentive to do them than just get gear.
FFXI classic
Ragnarok Online classic 3x exp rates
Play Eve Online
Most perfect and definitive MMOs
in concept? try to remake WoW but better to draw in the oldfags and newer generations that feel it's too late to start playing in
>current year
Genshin clone but focused on multiplayer
Reject singleplayer experiences
Stop being autistic solo and form a fucking party.
Make quests impossible to do solo so people have to group up with whoever comes by.
You can't fix minmaxing
this is what classic wow boiled down into
>FFXI classic
Pls no. The retail game now is the best it's ever been mechanically. Just update the graphics, release new content and we're good.
You literally can't. A good MMORPG too expensive for small devs and doesn't worth the investment for big publishers.
How about no? Other players fuck up far too much.
A horror MMO featuring playable vampires, werewolves, and hunters. Werewolves can't transform during the day and vampires take damage over time in sunlight. Hunters can use daytime to upgrade their weapons and buy new ones to kill the monsters with, track potential targets for the night hunt, or try to hunt the beasts in their lair. Come night time, the city becomes a blood bath. Character death is permanent.
Stop using borrowed power as a surrogate for talent trees.
Every time a player signs up for an MMO ship them a second monitor so they can watch someone grind the MMO on Twitch while they grind the MMO so the parasocial relationship fills the void
Make a VR MMO. What could go wrong
>get my mind stuck in a VR MMO
>forced to live a fantasy life with the responsibilities of the real world going away
>meet a cute girl eventually who hasn’t died yet, must be good at video games
I guess nothing
It's an MMO. Which means you can play with or against people in these games.
Why do you seethe and require me to party up? Do you need to have your retarded ass carried all the time?
Not a single one of those games are good user
>FFXI
Literal WoW copy but done exponentially worse.
>Ragnarok Online
No one cares about this game or thinks its good.
>EVE Online
Stupid spaceship game that doesn't have any identity at all alongside you needing to research hours on how to play this retarded game.
Just hope that Steve doesn't fuck up
>Being this much of a zoomer you think XI is a WoW clone
Room temperature IQ take, do you seethe at the mere mention of those numbers? It's XI, not XIV
people who pay a subscription to play the game thay already fucking bought for full price should hang
It wont live up to the hype, but hes the kind of guy to keep improving the game until it does.
I'm actually serious. A VR MMO with current technology, no advanced headgear shit that connects to your nerves or brain. Instead of spamming keys and shit you'd have to learn special movements to cast magic spells or abilities. It'd be great if MMO players weren't fat
And that's normal. If somebody fucks up, have the patience to teach them.
They're fish brained autistic losers that think their input matters. MMORPGs aren't hard, the difficulty comes from having to lug around dead weight raid and party members.
Honesty I’ve never gotten into MMOs because no one has ever been willing to teach me anything and I’m not willing to sit down for a few hours researching the best strat, gear, pulls etc when I just want to play the game and I get yelled at for not knowing the perfect strat when im just playing for the first time
I hope you're just pretending to be a retarded zoomer.
>have the patience to teach them
Fuck no, that would tank my XP-gold/hour.
I don't want a remaster to try to recapture those memories anymore, but a new game in ffxi classic style would be rad as hell.
MMOs suck because theyre aimed towards casuals and people who don't really want a multiplayer experience. There's no way out now.
That's such a bummer to hear that you missed the hayday. I used to love teaching new players what was good in ffxi.
>MMOs suck because theyre aimed towards casuals
?
First of all stop with the retarded single player main quest focus that make you ignore the MMO in MMORPG. Then ignore fags who want their raid content super duper hard, because that's where minmaxing comes from. It's fine for MMO to be simple and easy, because then people just focus on social aspect or PvP, which are more important in building community.
This is the nu-wow player. Aggressive, goal-oriented and will leave any group, guild, or raid if it's not "optimal". They're the gatekeepers keeping new players from coming in.
That's a real shame. When I started wow way back I got a ton of help. I got taught how to tank, how to heal, how to dps, how to pvp, and I'm better at the game today because of the people who had the patience to run dungeons with me, despite my performance being "suboptimal".
Everquest had the right idea for the time period sorta. Mmos need less hand holding, less amusement park shit, and more player driven world building. No grind this enemy, gather these plants, to turn it in and get your exp. Thats not fun and it never has been, needs to be more based on skill over face rolling your keyboard and hitting tab. Let npcs and players run shops and inns and have an economy completely player driven. Make dungeons actual fucking dungeons that are hard as fuck and once its cleared thats it the dungeon is forever done and another one would be generated somewhere else. All equipment should be tradable no bind on pick up or equip unless its cursed.
Tldr
I think mmos would benefit from a less theme park approach and more of the cool stories and experiences you got to have while playing in a sandbox.
The issue with VR right now is mainly motion sickness and cost. Don't get me wrong though I see the potential in it, just need to find ways through the flaws if they want to enter the mainstream market, which in turn would create big budget VR MMOs.
