The primary meaning is that assassins are like heroes to Travis. If he defeats his heroes by himself, he is able to exceed them, which means that he doesn't need heroes anymore.
It's a perfect, self contained story about a loser otaku realizing his fantasy of being a badass-assasin hero was for naught and this is exemplified through the peolle he kills(and how they view killing amd death) & the meaningless side missions you have to do to complete the game. Also every attempt at revengr is either a failure or extremely flaccid
